The Feather

Arrowmen,

This past Fellowship, we stepped back in time—long before our lodge, long before even Scouting itself—to a prehistoric world. And yet, what stood out most was not the theme, but the timeless strength of our brotherhood. Across the weekend, that spirit was clear: in the energy of our activities, in the connections between chapters, and in the shared commitment that continues to move our lodge forward.

Spring Fellowship was a true success. From an outstanding Lodge Leadership Development session to the incredible enthusiasm shown throughout the weekend, it was evident that our lodge is not only active, but thriving. The level of spirit on display was remarkable, and it was especially encouraging to see Arrowmen building connections beyond their own chapters. That kind of unity strengthens us all.

I would also like to extend my congratulations to Keyauwee Chapter for their well-earned victory in the Chapter Championship. Their achievement reflects the dedication and pride that define our lodge at its best.

As we look ahead, our journey continues—this time in a world a little less prehistoric and a little more imaginative. Conclave is just around the corner, taking place April 17–19, and this year’s Dr. Seuss theme promises an experience filled with creativity, fellowship, and fun. I encourage each of you to take part in what will no doubt be another memorable event. The registration link is listed below.

The momentum we build at events like Fellowship carries forward into everything we do. Let’s continue to build on that foundation, strengthen our bonds, and live out the principles that define us as Arrowmen.

Yours in Brotherhood,

Samuel Whitesell
Tsoiotsi Tsogalii
Lodge Chief

Spring Induction Weekend
May 1-3, 2026

The induction weekend (Ordeal) is the cornerstone of the Order of the Arrow (OA) experience. Every current and past member of the OA has participated in an Ordeal. To date, nearly 1 million Scouts and Scouters have participated in an Ordeal to become members of the order.

During this experience, time will be spent in cheerful service to one of the Old North State Council camps. This weekend will be an opportunity for each candidate to reflect upon one’s time in Scouting and to consider what they will do going forward.

Every induction weekend contains four key parts; service, taking a vow of silence, eating scant food, and spending a night away from others. All components of this weekend adhere to The Guide to Safe Scouting and are supervised by trained and qualified adults.

Additional information can be obtained by visiting https://lodge70.org/inductions/

Brotherhood Conversion will be available at this Event.  Be sure to indicate your interest during registration.

The section conclave is an annual activity (prior to 1972 known as an Area OA Conference) involving the six lodges in Section E8 (Formerly SR-7B).  Each conclave is led by section youth officers elected from among the member lodges at the previous year’s conclave, and the event itself is prepared in cooperation with various other lodge officers, and with one lodge serving as the “service lodge”.

The E8 Section Conclave is a gathering of over 1200 Arrowmen that occurs once a year in April at a Boy Scout camp in our Section. This years conclave will be held on April 17-19, 2026 at Camp Durant.  In short, its a great weekend of fun, training, and fellowship!
