Click here Kaya reader, After years of anticipation and months of intensive preparations across the scheme, the Workers Compensation and Injury Management Act 2023 (the Act) comes into effect today, 1 July 2024. The Act is the culmination of over a decade of consultation and review and represents a comprehensive rewrite of the existing laws to provide the necessary clarity for all stakeholders. It's only fitting as this leg of the journey wraps up, we acknowledge the architect of the new legislation, Mr Kevin Gillingham, Manager Policy and Legislation, and his team for their tireless work throughout the implementation process. However, there’s no time to pause, as together we take our first steps under a whole new legislative framework. From all of us here at WorkCover WA, we look forward working with you and empowering you as we continue to build a sustainable future for the workers compensation and injury management scheme in Western Australia. NEW LOOK, SAME USWith the launch of the new Act, today we also launched our refreshed website. Updated publications and resources are available now on relevant pages, and additional resources will become available over the coming weeks. The structure of the website is largely unchanged, however you may have noticed some changes to the look and feel of our website, as we’ve refreshed our corporate brand. Our refreshed colours will no longer feature green and gold, and you will be able to recognise our updated publications and resources by their primarily blue colour palette and modern design.
