TERM 1 WEEK 10

From the Head of Junior School

Term 1 - That's a Wrap!

It only seems like yesterday that I opened the front doors of the Junior School and now, here we are, with Good Friday tomorrow! Term 1 has flown by, and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know so many people. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the students, staff, and parents for making me feel so welcomed to the PLC community.

As we head into the holiday season and Easter, I want to wish you all a very happy and joyful time with your friends and families. I hope the holidays are a time of rest and relaxation, so that you can return to school in Term 2 with renewed energy and enthusiasm.

Years 1 & 2
Nature Challenge

Climb a Tree

As part of our River and Beach School, I encourage students to get out and play in nature as much as possible over the holidays.

If you participate in this challenge, please send photos which show 'students in nature' to
geraldine.drabble@plc.wa.edu.a with the subject 'Climb a Tree'.

You are welcome to use any background that shows students in nature – including playing with animals, using outdoor equipment, climbing a tree, gardening, swimming, and building a cubby house etc.

I look forward to receiving all your tree-climbing photos!

Parents as Learners

What a busy term it has been with three sessions of Parents as Learners (PALS).

Parents attended an informative session with Daniel Burton from Educated by Nature. We heard about risk in play and how important it is for our children to be building their creative, physical, social and emotional skills in nature. Daniel even taught our parents how to speak ‘crow’. Yes, it’s a thing!

ySafe provided another opportunity for our parents to engage in research-based information around how to keep their children safe online. It was a wonderful opportunity for our PLC Perth and Scotch College families to come together and learn.

This week, it was pleasing to see parents interested in learning about newly reviewed documents, forming the Responsible Student Behaviour Policy and Processes in the Junior School. These procedures will be trialled across the Junior School in Term 2. We aim to share these important documents with parents in the Junior School Notices, on Seesaw, and inside the student diary.
