Moritz Simon Geist makes dance music with robots in Hard Times – Rough Sounds! with visuals by Dominic Keissling and one of ambient music’s most exciting talents KMRU investigates the invisible and usually unheard network of electromagnetic signals in As Nature, with visuals by Markus Heckman. “We feel delighted to be part of this special edition of the event which showcases such wonderful talents as Robert Henke, Moritz Simon Geist, and Joseph KMRU, among many others. Watch Berlin based composer Tatsuru Arai’s algorithmically dense digital flowers bloom and blossom, twist and disintegrate in the dark with Re-Solarization. See yourself as you never have before in SCANAUDIENCE by SCHNITT and Gianluca Sibaldi, supported by the Italian Cultural Institute, Edinburgh. More birthdays! Celebrating 20 years of the Hidden Gardens... We join the Hidden Gardens 20 years celebrations with an eclectic mix of musical performances scattered around the gardens for you to discover. There’s playful tuba and euphonium duo Dopey Monkey, formed of Danielle Price and Martin Lee Price; an acoustic set from winner of the 2022 Sound of Young Scotland Award Berta Kennedy and finishing with a joyful set from high energy Glasgow’s African Balafon Orchestra (GABO). Team Cryptic travels… 🌍 In July, Cryptic’s Project Manager Fiona Haggerty travelled to Lublin in Poland to attend the Different Sounds festival and then met with artists in Warsaw as part of a British Council scoping grant. She was delighted to be able to take part in Keychange sessions at the festival and see some incredible acts from Poland and beyond. Next Cathie Boyd travels to MUTEK Festival in Montreal later this month. Cryptic Artists on the road📍 Sonia Killmann is performing at the Edinburgh Fringe for the second year in a row! She performs her new audiovisual show Là-haut every night from the 25-29 of August. Also at the Fringe is Heather Lander. She has built a new multimedia/FX structure for Weathervanes, an immersive multimedia exhibit and ritual dance theatre experience, open throughout August at Summerhall. Kathy Hinde’s installation Piano Migrations is exhibiting at the Museum of Fryderyk Chopin in Warsaw Poland until the 24th of September.
