Junior School NoticesTERM 4 WEEK 3Dear valued member of the PLC community, Open Garden DayThank you to all of our community members who made the 2022 Open Garden Day such a huge success. A special thank you to the PLC Open Garden Day Committee, Melissa Alder, Chrissy Miller-McKinley, Susannah Evans, Michelle Barrett, and Tanya Dyson for their tireless efforts in putting this event together. We are extremely grateful for all you have done. We also thank our student helpers and PLC staff who made sure that the event ran smoothly. I know that our Year 4 stall was very popular with their stock of tea towels and bird feeders quickly being sold. What a way for these students to celebrate their year-long engagement with their learning. ![]() Celebrating CommunityEvery Wednesday afternoon this term, some of our Year 6 students have been spending time with our Pre-Kindergarten students reading picture books in Spanish, Mandarin, and English. This initiative stemmed from our wish to acknowledge and celebrate the diversity of languages in the Pre-Kindergarten class and across the Junior School. Meredith Beer Rev Nalin's ReflectionsOften, I am asked by students and parents alike what I do with my spare time or, as I prefer to think of it, my special time. My inevitable response is cooking, for not only is it a personal hobby I love, but at a different time in my life I earned my living from it. One of my pleasures is being able to wander in my rear garden picking various herbs I want to use in creating a special dinner for guests. Important Information![]() Year 6 Migration MuseumOur Year 6 students are working hard to prepare for their Migration Museum display which will be open for viewing next Thursday 3 November from 8.30 am to 9.15 am. No doubt there will be many fascinating artefacts and narratives to be shared with family, friends, and staff. ![]() Dress Up Day'Be a Sporting Hero' Dress Up Day for the charity FairGame will be on Friday 28 October. We look forward to receiving donations of pre-loved, unwanted sporting equipment that can be used by children in under-serviced Australian communities. Please assist your daughter to find a sporting hero who has qualities that can be celebrated. Maybe their selected hero has achieved greatness through deeds rather than breaking records, maybe they have overcome huge obstacles to achieve beyond their dreams. I look forward to discussing who their sporting hero is and why this person was selected. The costume does not have to be elaborate; having an outfit that is suitable for a day at school is encouraged. Cooking for a CauseCooking for a Cause is an opportunity for PLC families to be involved in a Family Service Project. This year, we are offering the opportunity for Years 5 and 6 families to be involved.
