3rd February 2023A Message from the Head... ![]() Next week is Children's Mental Health Week however our activities to mark this have already begun with Mindful Mini's workshops today for Reception to Lower 2 and a High School assembly on the topic of screen time by Upper 4 which took place earlier this week (see below). On Wednesday this week, first round offers of places went out to next year’s Sixth Form applicants. Our current Upper 5 received theirs as did some of our external applicants. A second round of offers will go to a number of additional external candidates on 20th February once the first round candidates have had a chance to decide if they are accepting their places or not. Either way, it looks like our L6th next year will be full, reflecting the strong position the school is in with regard to pupil recruitment. In addition, only 4 places remain available for next year’s Upper 3 with around 20 offers yet to be responded to. ![]() Mr Lenihan is currently beavering away organising our first Cabaret Evening since COVID. The event takes place on 8th March and is entitled “Dinner at the Musicals”. Tickets go on sale tonight at 7pm via the link below. Tickets are strictly limited so if you would like to enjoy an evening listening to a variety of musical performances by High School pupils, then please book early to avoid disappointment. Dinner will be served at the event and there will also be a bar to purchase refreshments from. Next week we are looking forward to our annual Skipping day in Prep and the author Chris Priestly is coming to visit High School pupils. Full articles on both events will follow next week. Have a great weekend everyone. - Dr Tracy Johnson - Screen time ![]() Next week is Children's Mental Health Week and in High School we have been looking at screen time and the impact it can have on mental health. Upper 4W presented their assembly on Monday which was on the theme of screen time . One pupil in the form had spent over ten hours on their device in one day! We can all be guilty of spending too much time on our devices and there is a growing body of evidence of the negative impact this has on mental health, especially in young people. There are tools available to not only measure your screen time but also to allow you to cap the time spent on certain Apps. For example, you could limit the time allowed on
social media Apps to one hour per day, after which the App becomes inaccessible. - Mrs Karen Titman - Reporting absences ![]() A reminder that the school must be notified of all pupil absences via the email address absence@gatewaysschool.co.uk by 8.30am on each day the pupil is absent from school. If it is not possible to email, please call the general Gateways number on 0113 288 6345 and select option 1. Schoolblazer sale Quick Links To Popular ContentArticles from ... |
