2024 Volunteer Awards School Breakfast Programs would not function without the hard work and dedication of volunteers. Thanks to their commitment, thousands of students sit down to learn with a full stomach every day. Their contribution goes beyond the simple provision of food - it positively impacts the whole school community. All nominations receive an award.
Who can we nominate?
Anyone who helps make your breakfast program a success can be nominated. This includes paid staff, who volunteer their time over and above their usual duties! Nominations for students, parents, individuals or community groups are also welcome. Schools are invited to submit up to two individual or ‘group’ nominations. The ‘group nomination’ option is a great way for schools to acknowledge more than two individuals or a collective group – ‘St Paul’s Brekky Crew’, ‘Mulan Canteen Mob’ and ‘Lake Monger Brekky Bunch’ are examples of past group nominations.
For more information about the Awards, please contact the School Breakfast Program team on 9258 9277 (option 3) or schoolbreakfastprogram@foodbankwa.org.au
nom! Schools has taken off to a flying start! Our nutrition education and cooking program builds students’ knowledge, skills and confidence to support healthy eating for WA school children. In term one nom! Schools was officially launched. We visited Ashburton Drive Primary School where we also brought along special guests from Mineral Resources and Pilbara Minerals, who are supporting our program for the next 3 years. Channel 7NEWS also came along to check it out and ran a short feature about how nom! Schools is teaching students to make tasty, healthy foods for strong minds and healthy bodies. In term two, we look forward to visiting another 8 schools in the Perth metro area, plus we’ll be travelling to the Pilbara
for two week-long trips to empower kids and young people with life skills including cooking delicious healthy meals.
