Runaway Bay Sports Precinct Masterplan

Like many other parents in the division, the Runaway Bay Sports Precinct feels like our second home!

We spend most of the weekend, and a good chunk of the week, coordinating runs between the Luke Harrop Bicycle Track, the sports fields and the adjoining recreational spaces. When I’m not on sports duty, you’ll often find me slink away for an hours or so refuge in our beloved Runaway Bay Library.

The entire precinct is such a longstanding and integral part of our family’s lifestyle, I sometimes take it for granted! This role has given me a much greater appreciation of the site, its current limitations, and its incredible potential.

I am excited to share news that the entire precinct (East and West) is currently undergoing a strategic masterplan, with significant funding allocations planned for the City-owned portions over the next three budgets.

Ensuring we strategically evaluate the entire site (not just the individual activations within it) will allow us to optimise its community value and improve its functionality.

This is a super-exciting steppingstone in ensuring future investment responds to both current and future demands and will ensure we remain a premier location for a wide variety of community sports.

Consultation with existing stakeholders will form an essential part of the plan, so I look forward to working closely with all of our many resident Clubs and the community this year.
