It celebrates Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States. The month of May was chosen to commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese immigrants to the United States on May 7, 1843. During May, we celebrate the achievements and contributions of Americans of Asian and Pacific Island descent. We encourage our APIDA students have lots of fun celebrating this month and we hope others enjoy learning about different cultural experiences! Check out our reading list below: Memorial Day Monday, May 29th Dedicated to all members of the United States armed forces that have lost their lives in sacrifice to our country. It's also the unofficial start of summer. We've put together lists of films, books, and activities to enjoy over the memorial day weekend. More information is at the official SLDL blog. The CGU community is seeking new additions for student run clubs and organizations. Register your club today! Call for IGNITE Mentors! Application Deadline: July 31st Being an IGNITE mentor gives the opportunity to build on your leadership and mentoring skills. Mentors act as resources for first year graduate students and build community throughout the academic year. She is an international student from Mumbai, India, and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) in Leadership and Management at Claremont Graduate University.
