25th November 2022A Message from the Head... ![]() This week, after a 3 year break, 45 Lower 4 pupils enjoyed a 3 day residential in Liverpool. They had a busy itinerary including a tour of Anfield, (the home of Liverpool FC), The Beatles Story, the Christmas Markets, the International Slavery Museum, and they rounded off the trip with a day at Chester Zoo. Further details and more photos details of this trip will be included in next week's newsletter. Thank you to Mrs Holmes for organising the residential, Mrs McKeefry for leading it and Mrs Haynes, Mrs Burns and Mr Widdop for accompanying the pupils. Other pupils out of school this week included Lower 3 who paid a visit to Harewood House and the first of our Upper 3 Maths groups visited Maths City in Leeds. In school, Prep held the first of their new Open Doors events this week with Lower 3 to follow next week. These informal occasions allowed the pupils to show their parents what they have been learning about by looking through their books and classroom displays. The new events have been very well received so far with pupils and parents seeming to enjoy them. Next week of course we are looking forward to the PFA annual Christmas Fayre and I would remind everyone that Monday is a non-uniform day in exchange for bringing a nice gift for the PFA to use in their infamous hampers / raffle! ![]() And we will finish the week with a traditional outing to the Pantomime for everyone in Transition to Lower 3 - The festive season has certainly begun! I hope everyone is well rested and ready for a busy week! - Dr Tracy Johnson - Happy Thanksgiving![]() This week marked the 10 year anniversary of 'pumpkin pie' celebrations at Gateways. Each year for Thanksgiving, we are treated to homemade pumpkin pies from the Doyle family, which are brought in by pupils Bella and Ivy Doyle. Some of the children have even come to enjoy this unusual tasting treat over the years! Thanksgiving allows the children the opportunity to reflect on what they are thankful for. Keeping this tradition going has been important to Bella & Ivy who still consider themselves American having lived out there before joining Gateways. Thank you for treating us to more delicious pumpkin pie once again! Quick Links To Popular ContentArticles from ... |
