Please submit content for our next edition using the simple online submission form. Community StoriesNew Logan youth hub opens: Empowering the next generation! The new Wilbur Street Youth Centre in Logan has opened, offering young people a space for workshops and activities like music production, barista training, cultural dance, and more. The centre is located next to the Logan Central Library, at 22 Wilbur Street, Logan Central. Operated by Rekon Youth Foundation, the centre aims to empower youth through pathways to employment and education, promoting teamwork and celebrating diversity. The $5.04 million centre is co-funded by the Australian Government, Queensland Government, and Logan City Council. ![]() Community EventsGrand Gazebo Opening Night at the Beenleigh Community Garden The Beenleigh Neighbourhood Centre invites you to celebrate the official opening of the Beenleigh Community Garden Gazebo Square. The evening will showcase the new social area of the BCG and will include a special thank you to everyone involved in creating our beautiful new garden space in the heart of Beenleigh's town centre. Enjoy alfresco dining, be serenaded by local musicians, and savour the offerings of pizza, snags, and veggie kebabs on the BBQ while relaxing by the gardens. Logan City Council is proud to support initiatives that strengthen our community. Our Small Events Grants are available to organisations planning a Neighbour Day event, with up to $5,000 in funding. The Queensland Volunteering Awards celebrate the incredible impact of volunteers across the state. These awards highlight individuals and organisations that embody the spirit of mateship and community. The bi-annual Childhood Summit, hosted by the Australian Institute of Play, is returning to Logan on October 24-25, 2025. This inspiring event will bring together children, thought leaders, gatekeepers, key influencers, and practitioners to discuss and promote the well-being of children. The theme for 2025 is "Through Their Eyes," focusing on the voices and perspectives of children. Mark your calendars and stay tuned for more details in the coming months! ![]() Funding OpportunitiesApplications are now open for the Youth Empowerment Program, administered by the Australian Government. The Program is offering $28.377 million in funding for organisations supporting youth aged 10 to 17 who are at risk of engaging in criminal or anti-social behaviour. The program aims to provide alternative pathways, reduce recidivism, and help young people develop life skills. Eligible applicants include incorporated associations and not-for-profit organisations. Applications close: 28 January 2025 Applications are now open for the Employer Incentive Payment under the Back to Work program, offering up to $15,000 to employers who hire eligible unemployed Queenslanders. This initiative supports businesses in employing individuals who face disadvantages in the labour market. Payments are made over three instalments and must be claimed within strict timeframes. Applications are open year-round, and all employers, except government entities, are eligible to apply. Applications: are open all year round Applications are now open for Round 2 of the RACQ Foundation Community Grant Program. Through its Community Grants program, RACQ Foundation gives community groups, charities, sporting clubs and First Nations Councils the opportunity to rebuild after natural disasters and to prepare for the future with resilience-based projects.
