Flood Support Now Available in Strathfield Council Strathfield Council has been added to the list of areas eligible for relief from flood damage. Residents can apply for support for damage to homes and belongings, and Council will be applying for support with fixing damaged roads. Kids Activities at High Street Community Centre Pop down to High Street Community Centre for a welcome from Elysian School of Yoga, Dance, Gymnastics and Art. When: Tues 26 April & Sat 30 April Throwback Thursday Strathfield South c.1940 This c.1940 photo shows Liverpool Road at Strathfield South looking up the hill towards modern-day Centenary Drive. The lonely house on the right was called Staffordvilla and the surrounding land was leased to the Strathfield Golf Club. Today, the house would stand on the corner of Hedges Avenue, within Strathfield South High School’s grounds. On the far left was H. & E. Crossan’s Engineering factory on the corner of Cosgrove Road. Beyond was the Lion Garage, owned by Herbert Thomasson and the Lion Tile Co., once the second largest tile works in NSW. McDonald’s now stands on this site. Liverpool Road, Enfield c.1940.
