Queensland Seniors Month 2025 has officially begun! Held throughout October, this special month shines a spotlight on older Queenslanders and the incredible contributions they make as carers, volunteers, leaders and community champions. Everyone is encouraged to connect and celebrate with older Queenslanders. Join local activities and events across the state and right here in Logan. When: Wednesday 8 October, 6pm to 8pm   Nominate a passionate student for an Edstart Achievement Award The Edstart Achievement Awards offer a wonderful opportunity for primary and secondary students to be recognised in areas they’re passionate about – from the arts and sport to innovation and social impact. Winners receive a $2,000 grant to support their project, training or initiative. Nominations can be submitted by students with parent approval, or by a parent on their behalf. It’s a chance to shine and make a difference! Nominations close: 31 October 2025   Grant writing essentials workshop Logan City Council’s Community Grants Team are delivering an upcoming workshop to support community groups and individuals seeking grant funding. This session aims to build grant knowledge and confidence and provide practical support for those navigating the grants process. This workshop will cover grant writing fundamentals, acquittal tips and a Q&A session. Places are limited - bookings are essential. When: Tuesday 21 October, 9.30am to 12pm   Community EventsLoud & Proud Logan Festival Loud & Proud Logan Festival is back with a vibrant day of celebration, inclusivity, and community spirit at our family-friendly pride event. Expect drag shows, live music, queer-affirming films, art exhibitions, fashion and more. Whether you're part of the LGBTQIA+ community or an ally, this event promises joy, pride and connection for all ages. When: Saturday, 11 October, 1pm to 8:30pm   Music & Seated Movement: Ageless Grace® Brain Fitness As part of Queensland Seniors Month activities, join a joyful seated movement class designed to boost brain health and lift your spirits! Ageless Grace® is a playful program that activates five key brain functions through music and simple movements. Led by certified educator Georgie O’Connor, this all-ages, all-abilities session invites you to move, laugh and connect - no pressure, just fun! Bring a water bottle and wear comfortable clothes you can move in. When: Thursday, 16 
October, 10am to 11am   Cuppa & Craft Amputees Qld invites the community to join Cr Teresa Lane from Logan City Council for a creative morning at Cuppa & Craft. Participants will receive step-by-step guidance from Cr Lane to create their own masterpiece 🎨. Cuppa & Craft is a Healthy Ageing Hub event, supporting improved health outcomes for older people. When: Friday 17 October, 10am   Logan Aged Care Community Expo The Logan Aged Care Community Expo is a free event bringing together aged care providers, services and supports under one roof. Older Australians, their families and carers are warmly invited to explore options, ask questions and connect with local services. It’s a great opportunity to discover what’s available in your community - with a free coffee for the first 200 attendees! When: Wednesday 22 October, 10am to 1pm   Community ProgramsFind your balance with Tai Chi This free Mindful Movements program enhances balance, strength and coordination as well as physical and mental health. Led by Phil Hopes from Ambient Training, participants can enjoy seated or standing Tai Chi, meet new people, and have fun in a relaxed community setting. Remember to bring a water bottle and a hat! When: Tuesdays at 10am   Skate & Relate workshops - inspiring change for at risk youth Chiggy’s Skateboarding is bringing its Skate & Relate program to Logan, creating a safe and positive space for young people under 17 who are at risk. Delivered by professional coaches and supported by QPS, the workshops offer learn-to-skate sessions, mentoring, live demos, music, food and fun. With all gear provided and capped at 30 participants per session, it’s a powerful day of connection and confidence-building. When: Saturday October 18, with two sessions: 10am to 2pm, and 3pm to 7pm   Funding OpportunitiesApplications are now open for Ansvar’s Community Education Program. Ansvar’s Community Education Program provides grants up to $50,000 for programs supporting Australian youth which fall under two categories: Empowerment and Education or Outreach Programs. Eligible initiatives may focus on healthy lifestyle choices, education, outreach, or rehabilitation. Not-for-profit organisations with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status are encouraged to apply. Applications close: 5pm Friday, 24 October 2025 Applications are now open for the Empowering Queensland Women Grant Program. Funded by the Queensland Government, these one-off grants of up to $10,000 support community groups and organisations to deliver initiatives that improve the lives of women and girls across Queensland. Projects may include events, resources or programs that promote gender equality and economic security. Applications close: 4pm Thursday, 30 October 2025 Applications are now open for BMD’s Community Assistance Program. Funded by the BMD Group, these one-off grants of up to $5,000 support local organisations delivering initiatives that create lasting benefits in communities near BMD projects. Eligible categories include arts and culture, health and wellbeing, environment, education, youth engagement and community safety. Applications close: Friday, 31 October 2025 Applications are now open for Round 125 of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF), offering up to $35,000 in funding.  Follow their Facebook page to keep updated with their latest news, and helpful tips when applying. Applications close: midnight Friday, 31 October 2025 Applications are now open for Queensland Gives’ 2026 Grant Round. The 2026 theme is "supporting strong, vibrant and resilient communities". The General Fund grant program supports organisational capacity building of mid-tier organisations. Grants are available up to a maximum of $40,000 per individual grant. Eligible initiatives may include training, governance, volunteer support, and strategic planning. DGR1 registered charities are encouraged to apply.
