More than 6500 South Australian workers suffer body stressing injuries every year, sparking a SafeWork SA campaign to educate businesses about how to manage the risks posed by hazardous manual tasks. The campaign includes webinars, flyers, an expanded website section, a booklet and an introductory video to help educate businesses of the risks and their obligations.

High-risk construction work changes from July

Changes to the Work Health and Safety Regulations 2012 will reduce the working at height threshold for high-risk construction work from three metres to two metres from 1 July 2026. Whether you’re a sole trader, labourer, apprentice or contractor, any work at height above two metres will now be classed as high-risk construction work.

Lasting legacy to benefit community

A men’s shed dedicated to the memory of a worker who suffered fatal injuries when he fell through a roof has officially opened in Pennington. Its construction was the first time a court has imposed this type of penalty following a breach of the work health and safety laws.

Free screenings for workers exposed to dust

Do you have a history of regular dust exposure at work? Have you worked with engineered stone? You may be at risk of silicosis – a lung disease caused by breathing in silica dust. Free lung screenings are available for eligible workers through the MAQOHSC Lung Screening Program.
