Tutor Newsletter January 2024

Happy new year!

Happy new year to all our tutors - we hope you had a restful break over the holiday season.

It was lovely to see our students and tutors sharing their creative resolutions for the year ahead. We have lots of exciting plans for 2024 - watch this space!

We are looking forward to welcoming students on campus and online and look forward to seeing the brilliant range of student work.

Short course tutor call out

We are looking for a tutor to deliver the following short course:

Title: Introduction to Colour, Material and Finish Design Online Short Course

Dates: 10 February - 2 March | Saturdays | 11am - 12.30pm

Overview: This introductory course is ideal for designers or students (textile design, fashion design, product design, or interior design) who want to develop new skills and knowledge of the CMF design process. Students may wish to apply for further study, apply for a CMF position, or work on a specific project where CMF design skills are needed.

To express your interest please email a copy of your CV and a short paragraph outlining your suitability for the role to ualsctutorrecruitment@arts.ac.uk by 21 January.

 

New short courses VLE

We would like to thank all tutors who have engaged with the new platform and have worked closely with us since the launch of the new Short Course VLE in November.

We received positive feedback from tutors who started teaching on the new Short Courses VLE and we hope to continue to make the most of this new platform and explore the many functions and flexibility that it offers.

The team has been offering drop in sessions for extra support and are always on hand should you have any questions - simply reach out to us by emailing onlineshortcourses@arts.ac.uk and we will be happy to help.

Please share! Student competition to win a free online short course worth £600 ✨

Your students could be in for a chance of winning a free online short course worth £600 in our latest competition.

We simply ask that you mention it in class, encouraging students to apply - they can find out more information, including T&Cs, on the website or on our Instagram page.

Here's what they'll need to do:

Share a glimpse of their creative space through a photo, reel or TikTok and complete the sentence "I love to create here because…".

They'll need to tag @UALShortCourses and use  #UALOnlineShortCourse so we don’t miss their entry. The deadline for entries is Friday 2 February.

Visit: Soulscapes exhibition at the Dulwich Picture Gallery

Next month the Dulwich Picture Gallery will present 'Soulscapes', a major exhibition of landscape art that will expand and redefine the genre. The exhibition will feature more than 30 contemporary works from painting and photography to film, tapestry and collage.
