Top 10 tricks to reduce waste this holiday season

Being sustainable this holiday season

Want more festive spirit and less waste? Being green this holiday period doesn't mean you have to be the grinch. Here’s some great ways you can reduce, reuse and recycle, saving you time and money:

  • Choose a real Christmas tree instead of a plastic one. Alongside the fresh pine smell, you can mulch or cut up the tree and place it in your green organics bin.
  • Get crafty with decorations by reusing paper and cards or collect leaves and pinecones from outside.
  • Put a personal touch on your gift-wrapping and use a reusable decorated tea towel or fabric to wrap your presents.
  • Turn leftovers into new meals instead of throwing food away. Ham and veggie omelettes are a great example of giving food a new form.
  • Buy eco-friendly bonbons - a great addition to the Christmas table.
Help shape the City Budget 2022-23

Help shape the City Budget 2022-23

The City spends $1.83 billion annually delivering services and facilities, at a price you can afford.

Gold Coasters – we're inviting you to share your views and help shape the City Budget 2022-23. We want to know your priorities and where you think we should be focusing our resources.

Answer questions such as how satisfied are you with your local park facilities? Can we improve your favourite public area? Are we delivering your parking and transport needs? Are you happy with the quality of the waterways and beaches you use?

Your feedback can help improve the services and amenities that matter to you. It only takes a few minutes to share what's most important to you and your family.

Have your say on the City Budget 2022-23 until 24 December 2021 at GC Have Your Say.
