As we kick off the first full week of Black History Month, many exciting campus events are planned including our Black History Month Reception today starting at noon and the Opening Ceremony on Wednesday.  

Additional highlights this week include Arts After Dark, the Lowell Humanities Series, and Agape Latte is right around the corner!  Don't forget, if you are running the Boston Marathon, fill out this form so we can celebrate you and please spread the word if you have a friend who is!

Graham Ward: “Loneliness: A Theological Appraisal”

Graham Ward is the Regius Professor of Divinity at the University of Oxford and Extraordinary Professor of Systematic Theology and Ecclesiology at the University of Stellenbosch. Among his books are Cities of God, Cultural Transformation and Religious Practice, True Religion, Christ and Culture, The Politics of Discipleship, Unbelievable, and Unimaginable.

Translating Simone de Beauvoir’s Second Sex for the 21st Century

The importance of The Second Sex (Le Deuxième Sexe), first published in 1949 by French existential  philosopher Simone de Beauvoir (1908-86) cannot be overstated: A wide-sweeping, ground-breaking history and analysis of the treatment of women in Western society, its influence on both philosophy and the feminist movement has been enormous and continues to this day.
