We hope everyone enjoyed a happy and healthy summer holidays as we welcome in the new year.

Issue #1: In this week's edition, a friendly reminder to re-fresh your beach safety knowledge, register for MyAccount and learn how to create a greener Gold Coast with our Free Tree program.

Summer Surf Safety

How well do you know the beach safety rules?

It is now the peak of our summer beach season and our lifeguards are on patrol selecting the safest spot to swim each day while monitoring surf conditions. For your safety and theirs, always swim between the red and yellow flags on our patrolled beaches.

You can stay safe by following the beach safety rules:

  • Never swim outside the red and yellow safety flags.
  • Never swim at night.
  • Never swim directly after a meal or under the influence of alcohol.
  • Never swim when the beach is closed.
  • And never swim alone or surf at beaches not patrolled by lifeguards.

It is important to understand what the flags and safety signs mean before entering the water.

Remember, if our lifeguards can't see you, they can't save you.

Every year our Free Tree Program gives our residents the opportunity to choose from a selection of native trees and shrubs to plant in their own backyard.

Our 2023 collection dates and locations are now available. Residents can collect up to 3 free trees per household which must be planted within your own property.

Benefits of growing local native plants:

  • attract native birds to your garden
  • native plants are adapted to the local conditions and often need less water
  • provide the most suitable source of food and habitat for local wildlife.
