Local businesses are the heart and soul of our community and not only employ many of our local residents but also contribute to the well-being of our residents. My congratulations go to one of our local business owners Richard Baini who was awarded the Local Businessperson of the Year 2022. I met with Sally Sitou this week, our newly elected Federal Member for Reid to discuss the priorities for our local community. I look forward to Strathfield Council and our new Federal Member working closely together to deliver for our community. Renovated with fresh new turf, netting and multi-coloured bunkers, it's about time we bring out our good 'ole golf clubs from the shed. THROWBACK THURSDAYArnott's Biscuits & Columbia Gramophone This Milton Kent photo of Homebush dates from c.1935-1942 and shows two of the industries featured in the exhibition currently on display in Strathfield Library's Ironbark Gallery. The large factory in the middle of the photo belongs to Arnott's Biscuits who employed many local workers to bake and pack their famous biscuits between 1908 and 1997. The factory near the top right corner is Columbia Gramophone/His Master's Voice, located on Parramatta Road and opened by the Governor of NSW in 1926.
