DAUGHTER OF MINE – Now On Sale!
Today’s the day!
I’m so thrilled that my new book, Daughter of Mine, is officially on sale!
Daughter of Mine is set in the small, fictional town of Mirror Lake, North Carolina, a close-knit community that has recently fallen under a long drought. When Hazel unexpectedly inherits her family home, she’s drawn back to the place — and people — she left behind years earlier. But as the lake level behind the house continues to fall, long-buried secrets suddenly begin to emerge, including evidence that may finally explain the mystery at the heart of her family.
This is a thriller that revolves around all types of family — born and chosen and found. It was partly inspired by the events that happened during the drought a few summers ago, in Lake Mead. Like many others, I had been reading the articles about the water levels dropping all across the country, and the evidence that suddenly appeared from below. It got me thinking about all the mysteries that might exist around us, hidden just under the surface — of a lake, a town, and maybe even a family.

Behind the Scenes
One of my favorite parts of writing a new book is taking research trips to immerse myself in the setting. Though Mirror Lake is a fictional town, the geography of the region was partly inspired by my trips to Lake Lure. Here are two pictures from my most recent research trip to the area.
