WHAT'S HAPPENING AROUND THE CITYSchool Holiday ProgramWe have a wide variety of free sporting and recreational activities for school-aged children to enjoy over the autumn holidays! For the first time, we are offering Zumba Kids, Gymnastics and Aerial Enchantment. Registrations open on Wednesday, 9th of April at 7pm. Movies Under the Stars Grab a picnic blanket and head down to your local park these April school holidays for a free movie night! Our outdoor cinema is bringing loads of fun times, including live music, roving entertainers and kids activities to enjoy with the family. Seniors Festival Local residents aged 55 and over are in for a treat with an exciting variety of free and low-cost activities to enjoy. From film screenings, to exercise classes, guided tours, jewellery making and more, there is something to suit just about everyone! Active Parramatta VanLook no further for community-based local fitness programs! The Van is a free mobile service, offering both online and in-person options, suitable for different age groups, fitness levels and interests. Queries are welcome at apvan@cityofparramatta.nsw.gov.au Kids Sportability ClubHeld at Ermington Community Centre at 4:30pm on Wednesdays, this accessible program is designed to deliver sporting activities to those living with a disability. Participants must be between 5 - 18 years of age. Non-NDIS siblings are also welcome to attend for free! Over 55s Leisure & Learning ServiceChoose from a wide range of activities like Aqua Aerobics, Yoga, Tai Chi and Line Dancing in Term 2. Registrations open on Monday, 14th of April at 9am. The latest schedule will be released soon, so keep an eye out on our webpage! Junction Street Plaza Our unique and upcoming urban playground, located under the M4 in Granville will be opening soon. Primarily designed for youth (although everyone is welcome), this space will include plenty of social seating, table tennis, a parkour course and art murals. Active Kids Vouchers Vouchers are designed to help school-aged children, from low to middle income families participate in creative, sport and recreational activities. Voucher 1 for 2025 and voucher 2 (from 2024) can be used together for a combined value of $100, if used before Monday, 14th of July. Duck River Nature TrailThe goal of this multi million dollar project is to create more than 4.5 kilometres of boardwalks, bridges, pedestrian and cyclist paths, allowing people to walk and ride safely along both sides of the river. Community consultation closes on Tuesday, 18th of March. Fitness Program Our Term 2 schedule will be released soon! There will be a variety of fitness activities to suit many wellbeing goals. It is also never too late to join the current term, with spaces available in all online classes including Yoga and our popular Swiss Ball program, for only $42. The current round closes on Friday, 2nd of May. Grants for Participating in Sporting CompetitionsUp to $1,000 may be awarded for competing locals via our Representative Sports Grant.
