High School devoured a traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings on Monday and Prep enjoyed their festive themed burgers and pigs-in-blankets hot dogs on Tuesday. ![]() Prep had a noisy and fun-filled afternoon on Monday when their Christmas parties were held. You can read about some of these in the Prep articles section below. Then on Tuesday, all of High School had the opportunity to take part in a Christmas outing of their choosing. Ice Skating was the preferred activity with Lower 5 visiting Yorkshire's Winter Wonderland at the designer outlet and Key Stage 3 travelling to the White Rose Centre's ice rink. Upper 5 visited the York Christmas Markets and Sixth Form got competitive at Laser Zone in Leeds. All staff and pupils had a fabulous time, with a little Christmas shopping completed too! Thank you to all the staff who supported the activities and to the pupils for their impeccable behaviour and good humour throughout. ![]() We finished the week with our Prep Carol Services taking place on Thursday afternoon and the High School Carol Services on Friday. These events are always highlights in the Christmas calendar of school events and it was great to see them return to our diary having been missing since 2019 as a result of COVID. A total of £800 was raised for Dogs Trust as a result of the KS1 Production and the Prep Carol Services with a further £350 raised for Save the Children via the High School Carol Services. A huge thank you goes to everyone who bought a ticket for either event. We hope you enjoyed them! As has become traditional, click here or on the image above to see the Senior Leadership Team's 'Elf Yourself' video of 2022 - we thought this one was particularly suitable as it was only a few weeks ago that we were in the dining hall doing the Leadership Challenge for Children in Need! Have a lovely Christmas and New Year and I look forward to welcoming all our pupils back to school on Monday 9th January 2023. - Dr Tracy Johnson - Cherryvine - Autumn Term issueOur latest issue of our CherryVine is now available - click on the image above or button below to take a look . As well as a round up of some of the events and trips during the Autumn term, this issue focuses on our new Sixth Form centre. Cherry's first term - The Dog Blog! Our new four-legged member of Gateways, Cherry, is a much loved addition to the Gateways community. She has settled in remarkably well and it is fair to say that all pupils have seen her around school and have been greeted by her frantically wagging tail. She has demonstrated the perfect characteristics to be our school dog, loving all children and staff whether it is at 8am following her usual race around on the field or at 5.30pm when she is at homework club playing ball with some of the pupils. Cherry has had a fantastic 4 months at Gateway and is an amazing asset to have at Gateways bringing happiness to pupils and staff.
