Sometimes the smallest ingredients open the door to something bigger.
At a recent Supper Club at Uptown Tower, a simple sprinkle of seasoning sparked new ideas in the kitchen. Volunteers prepared a Smoky Hemp Seed Seasoning Mix, offering samples to residents alongside roasted vegetables, showing just how easy it can be to elevate everyday ingredients into something nourishing and full of flavor.
Shoppers were able to taste the finished dish, take the recipe home, and gather the ingredients right from the pantry shelves. It's a simple but powerful shift, from receiving food to imagining what's possible with it.
This recipe introduced many residents to hemp seeds, a nutrient-dense ingredient not often used in home kitchens. Packed with plant-based protein, heart-healthy fats, and essential minerals, they're easy to add to everyday meals like vegetables, potatoes, and salads. Thanks to the generosity of Bob's Red Mill, Lift UP is able to provide access to ingredients like these, opening the door to new flavors and new ways of cooking.
