Cr John-Paul Baladi, Mayor of Strathfield

Dear Residents,

I was delighted to officially open the Hudson Park West East Tunnel upgrade on Monday 4 August with Deputy Mayor, Councillor Cai and Councillor Kim. We were joined by Member for Reid, Sally Sitou who was representing the Federal Government and funding body for this project, under the Investing in Our Communities Program. This tunnel represents more than just infrastructure, it represents connection, safety, and our pride in where we live. Council is eager to continue works in Hudson Park and deliver a communal space to be enjoyed for generations to come.

We are very fortunate to collectively make up the fabric of a multicultural community and have two occasions to celebrate on Friday 15 August 2025. A flag raising ceremony will take place in front of Council Chambers at 8:30am to commemorate India’s Independence Day, and this year, Council will be flying the Indian and South Korean flags for a week – from 15 to 22 August – at Davey Square Reserve to mark the Indian and South Korean Independence Days.

As always, if you have a local concern or idea you’d like to share, you can reach me on 0478 054 241 or at cr.jpbaladi@strathfield.nsw.gov.au.
