Click here 7 August 2025![]() Cr John-Paul Baladi, Mayor of Strathfield Dear Residents, I was delighted to officially open the Hudson Park West East Tunnel upgrade on Monday 4 August with Deputy Mayor, Councillor Cai and Councillor Kim. We were joined by Member for Reid, Sally Sitou who was representing the Federal Government and funding body for this project, under the Investing in Our Communities Program. This tunnel represents more than just infrastructure, it represents connection, safety, and our pride in where we live. Council is eager to continue works in Hudson Park and deliver a communal space to be enjoyed for generations to come. We are very fortunate to collectively make up the fabric of a multicultural community and have two occasions to celebrate on Friday 15 August 2025. A flag raising ceremony will take place in front of Council Chambers at 8:30am to commemorate India’s Independence Day, and this year, Council will be flying the Indian and South Korean flags for a week – from 15 to 22 August – at Davey Square Reserve to mark the Indian and South Korean Independence Days. Let's help our local charities this Homelessness Week 🫶 Strathfield Council’s Homelessness Food Appeal is our way to help our local charities support the vulnerable in our community, as well as raise awareness about this concerning issue affecting over 122,000 people on any given night. There is still time for you to bring your food donations to Council. Strathfield Massacre Commemoration 💙 Join Strathfield Council and Cumberland RSL Sub-branch in Strathfield Square on Thursday 14th August 2025 to honour the seven victims of the of the tragic events that unfolded on 17 August 1991, The Strathfield Massacre. This memorial offers an opportunity for quiet reflection, remembrance, and support. All are welcome to attend. Wreaths will be laid at the memorial located outside Gloria Jeans at Strathfield Square. 📅 Thursday 14th August 2025 EOI to join the Multicultural Advisory Committee closes tomorrow! 🪭 Expressions of Interest to be part of the Multicultural Advisory Committee closes tomorrow, Friday 8th of August! The Committee is looking for up to five additional members of the community to bring the total community members to twelve. The purpose Multicultural Advisory Committee is to provide guidance to Council on diversity issues impacting Strathfield Area. The committee has no decision-making authority and therefore cannot commit Council resources, direct employees of Council or deal with operational matters.
