Coronavirus Updates
Message from George Shales OAM, President of SLSNSW
SLSNSW reminds all members about their eligibility for COVID-19 vaccinations.
Emergency services personnel are a part of the Phase 1B vaccine rollout, meaning vaccines are available for all frontline patrolling members (Bronze/SRC). SLSNSW is a gazetted emergency service and is eligible under this phase.
Although not mandatory to patrol, vaccination should be considered in light of the current cases of COVID-19 in the community, and to assist with maintaining operational capability across the coming patrolling season, both on the beach and within Support Operations. Any concerns should be discussed with your doctor.

Young South Maroubra SLSC sensation, Mia Hoo would love nothing more than to follow in the footsteps of her hero, Emma McKeon. They already share a birthday and a Surf Life Saving Club, and if results in junior competition are anything to go by, they may well share in a collection of Olympic Gold medals down the track.

NSW State of Volunteering Report
The Centre for Volunteering has released their first NSW State of Volunteering Report. It produces a cost-benefit analysis of the social, cultural and economic impacts of volunteering on communities in NSW.
Rescue of the Month Award - 2021/22 Season
Circular 3686 is now available to download from the SLSNSW website. This Circular outlines the online nomination process and key dates for the SLSNSW Rescue of the Month Award for the 2021/22 season.
Club Constitution Template
The SLSNSW Board has ratified the new Club Constitution template which is now available for use by clubs. Club Boards are encouraged to review the template and commence a proactive process of constitutional review.
Governance Foundations for NFP Directors Scholarship
The Australian Institute of Company Directors are offering 200 full scholarships to enable directors, executives and emerging directors of NFP organisations to attend the AICD’s Governance Foundations for Not-for-Profit Directors program.
Skills Maintenance (Proficiency Check) Requirements
Circular 3685 outlines the requirements for the 2021/22 Skills Maintenance (Proficiency Check) requirements considering the relevant NSW Health Order/s. Clubs and branches are required to complete the requirements by 31 Dec 2021.
Annual Gear and Equipment Inspections Program
Clubs and branches are required to complete the SLSNSW Annual Gear and Equipment Inspection Program requirements and notify SLSNSW by 5:00pm Wednesday 15 Sep 2021 via the SLSNSW online compliance requirements checklist facility.
Nominations for Life Membership of SLSNSW
Nominations for Life Membership of SLSNSW are now open. Nominations are to be forwarded via branch by Thursday, 30 September 2021. Successful nominations will be announced at the SLSNSW Annual General Meeting, to be held Friday 5 November 2021.

WIN an IRB Hull for your Club Thanks to Ampol
As one of SLSA’s Major National Partners, Ampol is contributing to our frontline services by giving away two (2) Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) Hulls to two (2) deserving Surf Life Saving Clubs. To enter your club into the running, just tell us (in 100 words or less) why your club needs a new IRB hull. Get in quick, this competition will run from Monday 19 July 2021 until Sunday 22 August 2021, with the winners named on Monday 30 August. Good luck!

2021 NSW Sharkskin IRB Championship
SLSNSW has taken the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Sharkskin IRB State Championships which were scheduled to be held at South West Rocks SLSC.
2021 NSW Pool Rescue Championships
Given the uncertainty around the lockdown and what the restrictions will look like when the current arrangements are eased, SLSNSW has decided to indefinitely postpone the 2021 NSW Pool Rescue Championships.
Grants & Fundraising
Grant funding is an ideal way to obtain equipment, infrastructure or program funding for your club. In support of SLSCs in NSW, SLSNSW provides a professional grant service at no fee to NSW SLSCs through the Surf Life Saving Foundation’s Grant Seeking Unit (GSU). The GSU is a national grant research and writing support unit for SLS entities across Australia.

State Welfare Officer - Volunteer Position
Surf Life Saving NSW is seeking dedicated volunteers to help support the mental welfare of volunteers following incidents that occur whilst performing surf lifesaving duties that may cause psychological harm.
Surf Sports Manager
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Sports Manager will strategically drive the operations and growth of Surf Sports in NSW. Leading the Surf Sports team, this role will be responsible for the development and delivery of a contemporary range of surf sports events and programs.
Beach Safety Awareness Presenter
Deliver beach safety talks and sessions to primary and secondary school students. Applicants must have their SRC or Bronze Medallion, drivers license, WWCC, own vehicle, and a passion for helping the local community.
Early Childhood Beach Safety Presenter
Deliver a brand new beach safety show to young children between the ages of 3 and 6. We urge anyone interested to apply but early childhood education experience and knowledge will be highly regarded. Training provided.
Multicultural Beach Safety Presenter
Deliver beach safety and rock fishing safety talks to community groups and diverse audiences in English and your own language both virtually and face to face. We urge anyone interested to apply but those with a strong knowledge and interest in their own culture will be highly regarded. Training provided.
Australian Lifeguard Service NSW - Recruitment Now Open!
With over 330 positions available across 90 locations, the ALS is encouraging surf lifesavers to apply as a means of offering local employment, building stronger relationships with clubs and providing opportunities for club members to develop leadership and lifesaving skills as:
