Do you know a Food Hero?

The Jamie Oliver Food Hero Awards are open now and celebrate the amazing foodie work happening across Australia that puts the health of kids first. The projects – big and small, whether in school or in the community – are all about creating a better world and happier, healthier children.

There are five award categories, and anyone can nominate someone or apply themselves. Schools, nurseries and pre-schools, community projects, sports groups, food educators, individuals can all enter.

Calling all Italian grandmothers! Share Your Recipe, Share Your Story!

ItaloWorld Inc have announced a special project which aims to celebrate and maintain traditional Italian recipes still in use in our corner of the world. The project will culminate in a book like no other, featuring 107 recipes sourced from the Northern Territory & Queensland and covering all Italian province

Enter the competition to have your cherished and unique traditional Italian recipe featured in this global e-book and printed coffee table publication. Your name, photo and life story will be showcased, together with your recipe!

Being a Youth Rep to the UN is pretty cool. In 2025, it could be you!

Spread the word! Applications are now open for the 2025 Youth Representative to the UN. This is a unique volunteer role that is annually appointed by UN Youth Australia in partnership with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Since 1999, the Youth Representative has been tasked with representing the views of young Australians both domestically and abroad.

Learn about the art of writing a children’s picture book with award-winning author Sandhya Parappukkaran. Sandhya will share tips for your own writing project. Support for children - Drop-In Session for parents/carers

Head to Health Kids - Queensland (H2HK-Q) Brisbane Service helps children aged 0-12 years and their families/carers, experiencing a range of mental health and wellbeing concerns, including developmental, behavioural, or emotional challenges.

We invite you to pop in and have a chat with a member of our team. We can talk about concerns relating to your child’s development and emotional well-being. We love exploring tools, strategies and supports for families.

No registrations required. Open to all of community.

Community Programs

Free early intervention program - Horse Whispering Youth Program

The Horse Whispering Youth Program (HWYP) is offering limited spaces for their 10-week program for at-risk youth residing in the Logan region at no cost.

Designed to engage disengaged youth aged 10 to 16, the program helps participants develop valuable life skills whilst in the arena. Youths engaging in risky behaviours or those known to police or Youth Justice may be eligible.

Complimentary Chiropractic Care

Did you know that Chiropractors may help with neck pain, headaches, shoulder pain, back pain, arthritis. stiffness and soreness?

Amputees Qld have CQ Uni interns providing complimentary chiropractic sessions each fortnight. This is a free service open to the whole community.

External Funding Opportunities

Applications are now open for Round 2 of the Community Broadcasting Foundation's Content, Specialist Radio Programming and Development & Operations grant. 

Stations producing content that meets the needs of particular communities may be eligible. This funding is intended to encourage stations to incorporate:

  • RPH programs to serve people with a print disability
  • Ethnic programs to serve a defined local ethnic community
  • First Nations Australian programs.

Applications are now open for the Thriving Suburbs Program. The program, administered by the Australian Government
Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts provides funding of between $500,000 and $15 million to local government entities and incorporated not-for-profit organisations for capital works projects that will enhance liveability, bolster social cohesion and support local amenity in urban, suburban and peri-urban communities

Applications are now open for the Young, Black & Proud Scholarship. This program celebrates the talents and strengths of young Indigenous Australians, supporting their passion in sports, the arts, and academics. 

The scholarships include funding for $1000, $2000 or $5000 to help recipients pursue their artistic or sporting dreams or further their education and training.

The YBPS program was launched in 2016 by ATSICHS Brisbane and in 2018 expanded statewide in partnership with the Queensland Family and Child Commission (QFCC).
