Need quick statistics tailored to your day-to-day work? Well, they’re coming! At the end of this month we go live with some exciting new changes to the dashboard, including a series of role-specific views similar to the current “Overview” page on the dashboard, but which provide a snapshot of the metrics most relevant to a particular educational role.

Here’s an example of what they will look like: Click to see a close-up of the Curriculum Overview; or the Management & Governance Overview; or the Principal Overview.

These are just three of more enhancements to come, as we continue to innovate and tweak the DDD Dashboard to make it more useful for you. Keep reading for details of what to expect next.

Join our Top 50 list!
The School Achievement Report is your ideal DDD tool for analysing school and subject performance, and identifying which subjects to prioritise for intervention. Book now to find out how. Click below to reserve a seat or visit the Learning Hub.   Our annual DDD survey asks one critical question: Would you recommend DDD to a colleague? Your answer is our best benchmark for ensuring that the dashboard adds value to you, and we’d love your honest feedback. Please respond to the survey in your inbox before 31 October.   What’s been the high point of your data journey over the past two years? We’re publishing a Top 50 list for DBE officials to share their favourite data moments, and all submissions go into a lucky draw to win one of 10 data vouchers worth R200 each.

With just over two weeks of term 4 already under our belts, provinces have done well to ensure their term-end submissions for term 3 are reflecting on the DDD Dashboard. The top provinces come as no surprise, with three having been recognised at the recent Data Summit as leading the way in terms of consistent term-end data submissions. Here are the numbers (as at 17 October):

#1 Eastern Cape   #2 Limpopo   #3 Mpumalanga   #4 North West
... takes first place with 99% submissions completed, by 5 211 out of 5 248 schools.   ... follows in second spot with 98% submissions completed, by 3 797 out of 3 857 schools.   ... is in third place with 95% submissions completed, by 1 683 out of 1 774 schools.   ... slides into fourth place with 93% submissions completed, by 1 491 out of 1 599 schools.

Role-specific views go live

All the usual dashboard functions will still be available. Click here for a sneak peek at the new page design!   At the end of October, the URL (online "address") for the dashboard will be updated. This won’t affect you unless you use bookmarks/browser favourites to log in to DDD, in which case you’ll see an automated message and link to the updated page. Click here to see what to expect.   It’s a view just for you: a dashboard page that gives an overview of the key statistics relevant to your role. To choose which view you want, you’ll simply click on the new “Role Specific” tab in the menu. Log in on 1 November to try them out, or click on the links in the opening paragraph of this newsletter.

Mr Zulu’s success in boosting data submissions in his circuit through strong communication and dedicated effort, earned him top spot in the 2024 “Our Data Story” Award. He adds that he is “well vested” in DDD and a committed data champion.   A finalist for the 2024 Data Summit “My Data Story” Award, Ms Madonsela explains that the school’s registers are now always up to date by 9.15am. This is a great example of how everyone plays a part in ensuring quality data is captured, regardless of role or seniority.   Based on his recent experience, Mr Sithole has a strong message to share with fellow DBE officials: “Colleagues, attend every DDD webinar that you can. We have facilitators who are ready to take us on a DDD journey every Thursday and Friday.”
