Gold Coast Weekly | Issue #29 |

How do you travel around our city? Let us know and have your say on the future of Gold Coast transport in our 5-minute survey.

Issue #29: We're reminding you to register your furry friends, bringing you ways you can make an environmental difference through recycling, and inviting you to try new ways of travelling to school with our Active School Travel program.

Dog rego

Register your dog. Keep them safe.

If you've welcomed a new furry addition to your family, make it official by registering them. All dogs on the Gold Coast must be registered from 12 weeks of age or after 14 days of coming into the city to live.

By registering your dog, you increase your pet's chance of being safely reunited if they ever get lost. Your registration fee helps to maintain and plan off-leash areas, support our City Pounds and provide doggy bags to the community.

It also supports our free pet education programs such as "Walk With Me", a social dog walk with our Animal Management team and an experienced trainer.

If you're not already completing your dog registration online, make the switch today. It's easy, click through and complete your registration and make sure your contact details are current.

So let's take the lead and be responsible dog owners.

Keep Australia Beautiful Week

Make a difference this 'Keep Australia Beautiful Week'

Reducing your impact on the environment starts in the home. Did you know that many of the items that go into your general waste bin, which goes to landfill, can actually be recycled?

Become a role model for your family, friends and our community this Keep Australia Beautiful Week (15-22 August) and help increase the separation and recovery of recyclable materials. To do this, you can:

Switch up the school route with active travel

Active travel is the best way to get to and from school on the Gold Coast. When school communities actively travel, children feel empowered, there is less traffic on our roads and less pollution in our environment.

Our Active School Travel (AST) program empowers students, parents, carers and teachers to:

  • re-mode by swapping the car for walking, wheeling and public transport
  • reduce car trips by carpooling or combining trips
  • re-route to take a slightly different route to avoid congested roads
  • re-time school-related trips, dropping children earlier or picking them up later.

See how you can get involved on our website.
