Free State fired up and running, as DDD onboarding continues |

More and more Free State users are adopting the national DDD Dashboard, following the switchover from their provincial version of the platform last year. Strong growth in data use is on the cards: the province currently has more than 1000 registered users (up from 700 in term 4 2024). Seen above are FET curriculum officials hard at work in a DDD training session, following a directive from Deputy Director-General Mr ET Montso, for officials to be onboarded to DDD as quickly as possible. Keep your ears open for more news from the Free State – we expect to see great things! |

OVERHEARD AT THE TRIALOGUE CONFERENCE 2025 |
Education and the use of data in improving learner outcomes are top of mind for many of South Africa's businesses and non-profit organisations, which was clear at this week's Trialogue Business in Society Conference. Here's what some of the speakers had to say:
“Providing quality education – not simply access to education – is more than a social imperative. It is an economic strategy.”
“South African youth don’t compete with each other; they compete with the world. And without quality education, they will have lost the race before they’ve even started running.”
“When considering the transition from education to employment in South Africa, the biggest perceived challenge is the mismatch between what education provides, and what today’s employers and industry need.”
“Constant learning and the art of reflection should be part of our daily processes, in everything we do, across all sectors.”
“When data shows that one hasn’t met a target, this is not as much a ‘failure’ as it is an indicator of where the solution to your challenge really lies. Think of ongoing monitoring and evaluation as your ‘true north’, rather than a fixed measure of failure or success.”
The annual Trialogue Business in Society Conference showcases important developments across the corporate responsibility sector. The theme ‘Driving Impact, Inspiring Change’, covered trends in CSI, education, entrepreneurship and more. For more information visit https://trialogue.co.za/ |

NEW TO THE GAME, BUT ALREADY LEADING THE CHANGE |
Despite more than three decades in education, subject advisor for Life Orientation, Mr Louis Le Grange, is a relative newcomer to the DDD programme. Introduced to the dashboard in 2024, he has become a firm advocate of DDD, a platform he credits with transforming the way he prepares for school visits and supports educators to plan targeted interventions.
Introduced to DDD by a “super-user” colleague, Le Grange says he quickly recognised its value. He now routinely uses its insights and reports to prepare for school visits. “It only takes 10 to 15 minutes to gather impactful insights,” he explains, adding that this preparation leaves school staff impressed by his readiness. DDD enables Le Grange to drill down into performance data by grade, subject, and even individual learners. By identifying trends and discrepancies, he is able to craft targeted intervention strategies, particularly for learners struggling in key aspects of Life Orientation. He values how DDD provides comparisons across subjects and between terms, helping assess the effectiveness of teaching practices.
With DDD at his fingertips, Le Grange is more equipped than ever to support schools, improve learner outcomes, and drive meaningful change in education. |
