No images? Click here Dear Triton Parent and Families, As we approach the end of Fall Quarter, I want to acknowledge just how much has taken place since the last edition of our newsletter. Here on campus, we welcomed over 10,000 new undergraduate students to campus, we saw phenomenal turnout at events like Homecoming and Family Weekend and we broke ground on exciting new campus projects like the Triton Center. But campus isn't the only place where things have been happening, and our campus borders aren't impervious to the outside world. I recently attended a conference where the keynote speaker shared words I've carried with me every day since:
Between current events, personal struggles and the stress of upcoming finals, your students are likely navigating a lot right now. When you check in with your students in the coming week or so, I encourage you to think about the different dimensions of holistic well-being and use them as a framework for engaging with your students about how they're doing. I also encourage you to check out the various types of support UC San Diego has available to students — whether they're struggling with current events or need help managing the stress that comes with exams — and have them on hand for your conversations. We've also highlighted some great support options in this newsletter, so be sure to take a look. As always, if there is anything we can help you support your students, don't hesitate to reach out. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this quarter's newsletter and I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday season. Best, Margot Clifford Thank you to all the Triton families that made this year's Homecoming and Family Weekend wonderful! Almost 1,500 parents, families and students came to campus to take part in the Triton Tailgate, Movie Night Under the Stars, Triton 5K, Breakfast 'n' Research, and more. Hosting you on campus and bringing families and students together to celebrate UC San Diego and the Triton community makes Homecoming and Family Weekend one of the highlights of our year. Diving Deep: Triton2Triton Launches in JanuaryStudent Affairs Case Management (SACM) offers non-clinical case management to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students at UC San Diego. As a non-clinical resource, SACM mainly problem-solves ways to address challenges that come up for your student, shares resources/opportunities, and offers support to make your student's college journey more smooth. Triton2Triton is a SACM peer-to-peer program where your student can connect with empathetic students that have been trained on campus resources and empathetic listening. The program launches in January, so keep an eye on the SACM website! In the meantime, check out other peer support offerings. For more information, please contact the Triton2Triton Coordinator at cas014@ucsd.edu. Triton Family Web SeriesOur Triton Family Web Series, a slate of informative webinars covering a range of topics, kicked off this year's season in November with our first episode, "Paging Future Doctors." The Triton Family Web Series will return in late January and continue through May. Be sure to tune in for presentations, panels, and discussions with experts about resources from all across campus, including student support, involvement opportunities, challenges students face and ways families can support their students' success at UC San Diego. More information, including topics and dates, will be shared soon. In the meantime, check out our YouTube Playlist highlighting all past Triton Family Web Series sessions.
