Chapman Petersen - Welcome to the Team! Southeast Sailboats may be based in the UK, but for years we have been providing our custom rigging solutions to sailors worldwide. Southeast Sailboats is therefore excited to add Chapman Petersen as a sponsored sailor. At just 19, Chapman is now part of the US Sailing Team and will represent the USA at both the Pan American Games and the Olympic Test Event in 2023. Chapman studies Management Science & Engineering at Stanford University. Southeast Sailboats has been working with Chapman since 2018, providing custom rigging solutions to his exacting needs. Chapman joins Matilda Nicholls, Micky Beckett and Jon Emmett as sailors sponsored by Southeast Sailboats. Welcome to the team, Chapman! Chapman’s early career achievements were across an impressive variety of circuits, including multiple championships in the youth classes of the Inland Lake Yachting Association, and dominating the ILCA 6 class as ISSA High School National Champion (2019), US Sailing Youth Champion (2021, 2019), ILCA US National Champion (2021), ILCA North American Champion (2019), multiple championships in the US Sailing Open Olympic Class Regattas (2021), and medalling at the ILCA 6 World Youth Championship (2021). After his final Youth World Championship (ILCA 6) in late 2021, Chapman immediately transitioned into the ILCA 7, adding significant strength and weight over the next year. Having sailed the men’s Olympic class for only 13 months, Chapman (age 19) continued his impressive trajectory, winning the 2022 ICSA College National Championship and the 2023 qualification series for the 2023 Olympic Test Event (France) and 2023 Pan American Games (Chile). Chapman credits his racing trajectory with his experiences in diverse racing formats (team racing, fleet racing, match racing), different crew ranges (single-handed, double-handed, triple/quadruple-handed, and 6-7 person A scows), and a wide selection of boats including Melges, Scows, Moths, Iceboats, and of course, the ILCA. New Ronstan kicker/vang top block We have the brand new Ronstan kicker/vang top block on order and it will be with us in the next week so we have added it to the website for pre-order. Be the first to get you hands on one of these great new free running blocks. Priced between the normal Harken 466 and top end Allen XHL/TiiTAN blocks these new blocks from Ronstan are a great way to economically upgrade your kicker/vang system. Available with or without a spliced primary line. Replacement 'luggage tag' kicker/vang control lines Blocks last a very long time - much longer than control lines which get a hard life on your boat. For kicker/vang systems that use blocks with a becket (for example the Harken 407 'air' block, or the new Allen XHL double block) we have added Polytech secondary control lines with a spliced loop that you can easily and very neatly 'luggage tag' onto the becket. Where to see Southeast Sailboats in 2023 The 2023 calendar is almost finalised, and listed below are the events at which Southeast Sailboats will compete. It's a great opportunity to come up and say hi and ask any rigging questions that you may have!
Please note that during the longer events the 'Shop Closed' sign will be up on the website. Plenty more events that I would like to be at but lots of splicing to do! Recent additions to the website... We are continually adding little things to the website. Here are some of the latest additions: Allen masthead wind indicator; titanium mega-bolt; more Rooster tiller extensions.
