Dear friend, This summer, Lift UP has experienced a significant increase in demand for our food security services. On several peak days, we've served up to 105 individuals in a single day, and we've now surpassed our previous records by delivering nearly 500 food boxes per month to local residents. September is Hunger Action Month, a nationwide movement to raise awareness about hunger in America and inspire meaningful action. At Lift UP, we believe that access to nutritious food is a basic human right, not a privilege. Every person, no matter their situation, deserves access to wholesome, nourishing food. Every contribution―no matter how large or small―brings us closer to building a well-fed Downtown and Northwest Portland community, where no one goes hungry. When people are fed, futures are nourished, and we can all reach our full potential. If you share this belief, here are a few simple ways to support food security for your Portland neighbors:
After last year's success, we've raised our goal from 5,000 jars to 10,000 jars of nut butter for our community. Why nut butter? It's one of the most requested, high-demand items and provides an easy, nutritious meal.
2. Volunteer with Us! We're actively seeking volunteers to help with food pantry setup, food box packing, and delivery. Your time and effort directly impact our community. [Learn more here] 3. Pledge with Us Join Lift UP and our partners at the Oregon Food Bank by pledging to support the Food for All Oregonians campaign. [Pledge your commitment here] Understand and address the root causes of hunger by registering to virtually attend Oregon Food Bank's Ending Hunger Power Night. [Register here] Your support not only puts food on the table today for our neighbors—it builds the foundation for a healthier, more resilient future. Together, we can ensure that no one in our community has to face the uncertainty of hunger. With Gratitude, Stephanie Barr, Executive Director Food brings us together. |
