From local markets and community festivals to informative sessions and supportive programs. Community storiesCommunity Field Officers - Census 2026 The next Australian Census will be held on 11 August 2026, and the Australian Bureau of Statistics is recruiting more than 1,600 Community Field Officers to help make it a success. These local roles support people from all cultures and communities to complete their Census, ensuring everyone is counted. The roles are temporary, flexible and close to home, making them suitable for a wide range of people with community experience. Applications are now open.
Opportunities and resourcesBlokes in the Caring Role Blokes in the Caring Role is a practical two-day program designed for men caring for someone living with dementia. Connect with others in a similar role while learning strategies to manage changes in behaviour, communication and relationships. The program also explores grief and loss, self-care, and support options through family, friends and community services. When: Tuesday 9 June and Wednesday 10 June 2026 (9:30 am to 2:30 pm)
End-of-life information session and services hub Planning for end of life can feel overwhelming. This compassionate session brings together trusted local experts to help adults navigate care and support options, financial and legal matters, advance care planning and spiritual support. Afterwards, explore hub stalls and connect directly with service providers. Bookings are required, and morning tea will be provided. When: Wednesday 24 June 2026, 10:00 am to 11:30 am
Multicultural ‘What is the NDIS’ information session Are you from a multicultural background in Logan and living with disability, or supporting a family member with disability? This free information session is designed to help multicultural communities better understand the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Delivered by Carers QLD and AMPARO Advocacy, the session will provide helpful insights and guidance on accessing supports and services. Attendees can also enjoy free refreshments and connect with local support organisations. When: Thursday 25 June 2026, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
Community eventsBeenleigh Night Bites Twilight Markets Beenleigh Night Bites is back, transforming the town square into a lively twilight foodie playground. Enjoy 80+ gourmet street food and market stalls, artisan goods, live music and roving entertainment, in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. Bring your friends, roll out a picnic rug and soak up the lively atmosphere in the heart of Beenleigh. When: Friday 5 June 2026, 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Bayanihan Festival 2026 The Bayanihan Festival is a vibrant celebration of Filipino culture, bringing the community together for a day of performances, food and connection. Enjoy cultural and contemporary entertainment, explore market and information stalls, and taste authentic Filipino cuisine alongside global flavours. This much-loved event celebrates unity, friendship and community spirit. When: Saturday 13 June 2026, 10:00 am to 5:30 pm
Inspiring Journeys 2026 Inspiring Journeys is a free community event for Year 10-12 students in Logan and their parents or guardians. The event empowers young people through real stories of resilience, courage and hope. Hear from the Mayor of Logan City, Griffith University’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor and six inspiring young Logan locals as they share how they’ve overcome adversity. Enjoy meaningful conversations, community connection, free food and giveaways. When: Saturday 27 June 2026, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
Community programsCreate & Connect in Beenleigh Create & Connect is a welcoming craft group bringing the Beenleigh community together. Enjoy mindfulness exercises, peer-led tutorials and a relaxed space to work on your latest project or start something new using the centre’s craft supplies. It’s a great way to connect with others while getting creative. Morning tea is included. When: Monday fortnightly, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm (next session 15 June 2026)

Applications are now open for the Westpac Social Change Fellowship 2027, supporting individuals leading initiatives that address important social issues in Australian communities. The Fellowship provides up to $50,000 for personal development, including study tours, short courses, coaching and global learning experiences, plus access to leadership programs and a national network of changemakers. Applications close: 16 June 2026, 5:00 pm (AEST) Applications are now open for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts Development Fund (Round 2), supporting Queensland-based Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, groups and organisations to develop and present new creative work. Funding is available for performing arts projects (up to $70,000) and visual arts, fashion and textile market development (up to $30,000), with additional support for accessibility costs. Applications close: Monday 29 June 2026, 2:00 pm (AEST) Applications are now open for the SpinTel Student Entrepreneur Grant 2026, supporting Australian students studying business-related fields to pursue their entrepreneurial goals. The grant offers a $5,000 payment to help bring innovative ideas to life, with applicants required to submit a short-written response outlining their vision and impact. It’s a great opportunity for emerging changemakers to build skills and confidence in business and innovation. Applications close: 30 June 2026 Applications are now open for the Trees for Bees Community Tree Grants, supporting community groups to plant bee-friendly trees and create vital habitat for pollinators. Grants of $500 are available for not-for-profits, schools, Landcare and community organisations to deliver local planting projects that benefit bees and strengthen community connection. Applications are assessed on pollinator impact, area covered and community reach. Applications close: 20 July 2026, 5:00 pm (AEST) We hope you find the information in our e-newsletter useful.
