Looking for something exciting to do these school holidays? Join us for a range of fun activities designed for young people aged 10 to 17 who have a connection to Bayside—whether you live, work, study, go to school, or play in the area.

Spaces are limited and bookings are essential — don’t miss out!

  • FriYays Pop-Up, Friday 11 July
  • Hang Out and Slime Making, Tuesday 15 July

Young People of Bayside Art Exhibition 🖼️🎨

Be part of a milestone moment in Bayside’s creative community by entering the 25th Annual Young People of Bayside Art Exhibition.

If you're aged 10–25 and have a connection to Bayside, this is your chance to showcase your talent and be in the running to win over $1,000 in prizes across the following categories:

  • 10–13 Years: Winner & Runner-Up
  • 14–17 Years: Winner & Runner-Up
  • 18–25 Years: Winner & Runner-Up
  • People’s Choice Award (voting via our Facebook page)
  • Boombox Events Committee Choice Award.

All participating artists will be invited to a celebration night to mark this special 25th anniversary event.

How to Enter:

  1. Photograph and register your artwork by Sunday 10 August
  2. Drop off your artwork on 14 or 15 August.

Winter Warmers - Bush Dance at Billilla 🎵

Come down to Billilla Gardens and shake off those winter blues with an invigorating Australian Bush Dance.

Led by the acclaimed "Billy Tea Bush Band", this free event is open to all, with dances taught on the day in a fun and accessible manner. Dance to some old favourites and learn some new moves.

When: Saturday 19 July, from 1:30 - 3:30pm

Bayside Youth Awards 2025👏

Bayside’s inspiring young changemakers took center stage at the 2025 Bayside Youth Awards, where five exceptional individuals were honoured for their leadership, creativity, and dedication to making a difference in our community.

This year’s awards received an incredible 93 nominations, recognising 57 remarkable young people whose passion and potential prove that Bayside’s future is bright.

Congratulations to the 2025 Bayside Youth Awards winners:

Paper Planet by Polyglot Theatre 🌳🌏

Paper Planet encourages children to let their imagination run wild this school holidays, by creating a cardboard forest at Brighton Town Hall. Theatre and play merge in this magical place, as creatures, plants, costumes, characters, stories and adventures spring to life. The forest will evolve each day through public participation and is sure to delight the whole family.

Paper Planet is presented alongside Bayside Gallery's exhibition Schulim Krimper: mid-century artist and master craftsman.

When: Wednesday 9 July to Saturday 12 July
Where: Brighton Town Hall, Corner Carpenter and Wilson Streets, Brighton

Developed in partnership with Year 6 teachers, this program:

  • Includes an excursion to the Road to Zero Education Complex at Melbourne Museum

Supporting kids to play sport ⚽

Sport shouldn’t be the first thing cut from a family’s budget when times get tough.

Bayside City Council is teaming up with Team Sports 4 All to support local young people from households who are inhibited by the cost of participating in sport.

If you live in Bayside and meet one of the following criteria, you can get funding for sports registration, uniforms, and equipment:

  • Have a health care card
  • Reside in government housing
  • Be an asylum seeker.

Funding is provided by the Australian Sports Commission through Play Well Grants.

Glen Eira Bayside PSA Neighbourhood Policing Forum👮‍♂️🚨

The Victoria Police Neighbourhood Policing Forum welcomes local services and community members to talk with police about what issues are important in your community.

The forum will explore topics including:

  • Current crime trends and crime prevention
  • Family violence
  • Young people
  • Road policing
  • Drugs and drug related crime.

The Neighbourhood Policing Forum will be run by a Victoria Police panel and questions will be taken from the audience throughout the event.

Participants are welcome to submit a panel question prior to the forum.

When: Thursday 31 July, from 10:00am - 1:00pm (doors open at 9:45am)
