Nau mai ki Komiti Māori

Komiti Māori will be held on Thursday 13 April 2023 to be held at Te Tākinga Marae, 402 State Highway 33, Mourea, Rotorua.

A pōwhiri will take place at the earlier time of 9.15 am (sharp) followed by a short morning tea and 30-minute walking tour of the marae/projects.  The meeting proper will commence at approx. 10.45am (or at the earlier time of approx. 10.10 am if the tour does not proceed due to inclement weather) and will conclude at approx. 1:30pm, followed by lunch.

The meeting will commence at approximately 10:45am.

Programme Outline

9.00 am         Arrive/assemble
9.15 am         Pōwhiri
9.50 am         Morning tea
10.10 am       Tour of marae, tourism project, Ōhau channel walkway and potential flooding issues (30 min) (Note: Tour will be subject to weather)
10.45 am      Meeting starts (or earlier at approx. 10.10 am if walking tour does not proceed)
1.30 pm        Meeting concludes

Te Ara Hinengaro Symposium 

Te Ara Hinengaro symposium is being held on Monday 17 April.  The symposium, being hosted by Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi,  explores the nexus between environmental change and the mental health of the community.  It is an opportunity to learn about some new research being undertaken in mental health and the environment, and importantly, some new initiatives designed to support wellness and connection in the community.

Upcoming hui ā-rohe in May for Fresh Water Management

Toi Moana are holding three hui in May to discuss the future of freshwater management in the Bay of Plenty. Hui ā-rohe will be held based on the three Māori Constituencies for Toi Moana. There will be two sperate sessions available for each location from 2pm to 4pm and 5.30pm to 7pm

These are scheduled for the following dates with venues to be confirmed: 
Ōkūrei - Wednesday May 17th in Rotorua
Mauao - Thursday May 18th in Tauranga
Kōhī - Wednesday 24th May in Whakatāne
