Community storiesMeet the winners of the People’s Excellence Awards You might recognise some familiar names among the winners of the inaugural City of Logan People’s Excellence Awards. The awards celebrate individuals and groups whose passion and dedication are creating positive change across our city. Spanning 17 awards across six categories, the winners include Logan’s sports stars, artists, innovators, volunteers and environmental leaders. Opportunities and resourcesPaid opportunity for young people with disability (18-25yrs) Queenslanders with Disability Network (QDN) is inviting young people with disability aged 18-25 to help design their new Lead the Way: Shaping My Future program. Participants will work alongside peers and QDN staff to shape content that supports young people to navigate major life events such as employment, study, living arrangements and knowing their rights. Two paid roles are available through a Project Advisory Group and a Co‑Design Team. Applications close 11:59pm 7 April 2026
Host a free information stall – National Autism Awareness Day Bethania Community Centre is inviting local organisations to host a free information stall at a community event marking National Autism Awareness Day, held on Thursday 2 April 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The event offers a welcoming, inclusive setting where families can connect with services while children enjoy sensory‑friendly, family activities. It’s a great chance to share supports, resources and services in a relaxed, community‑focused environment. FREE online training: safe responses to family violence Are you a community or faith leader supporting multicultural communities? You’re invited to take part in a free, self‑paced online training designed to build confidence in preventing and responding safely to family, domestic and sexual violence. Delivered through the TECS national project by Settlement Services International, the three‑hour course provides practical guidance, referral pathways and a certificate on completion, with opportunities to join paid Learning Circles after training. Sorting out finances for people experiencing DFSV Register for this free online event to learn about programs in Queensland that support women to build confidence and independence around money after domestic and family violence. The session will cover the Good Shepherd Financial Independence Hub and Broken to Brilliant Financial Superwomen, including how each program works, how to register, and the support available. There will also be time for questions and discussion. When: Wednesday 25 March, 9:30 am to 11:00 am
🗣️Share your story of resilience Did Ex–Tropical Cyclone Alfred impact you or your community? During that time many businesses and households needed sandbags, schools closed for three days, more than 44,000 residents lost power, and SES volunteers responded to 1,069 requests for help. We also know that countless positive acts took place across our city, as neighbours supported one another and community organisations and volunteers stepped up to assist. Council’s Crisis and Disaster Management Program wants to capture and celebrate these stories. By sharing your lived experience, you will help showcase the incredible strength and resilience of the City of Logan.
Community eventsSip & Learn: Your Sustainable Living Afternoon Tea Curious about living more sustainably? Sip & Learn is a free, relaxed afternoon tea filled with practical ideas for everyday life - from repairing and reusing to backyard food growing, supporting local biodiversity and spending smarter. Whether people are just starting their sustainability journey or already living lightly, this friendly session offers inspiration, conversation and connection in a welcoming community setting. Celebrate culture and community at the Assyrian New Year Picnic This important cultural celebration brings together the Assyrian community to honour tradition through music, dancing, food and family-friendly activities as the new year is welcomed. It’s a meaningful opportunity to strengthen cultural ties, celebrate heritage and share in a day of joy and unity. Bring picnic blankets, chairs, favourite foods and good vibes, and take the opportunity to connect with others in a friendly, welcoming setting. When: Sunday 5 April, 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm

These free sessions feature inspiring guest speakers, helpful health and community resources, and plenty of opportunities to chat and connect with others — all while enjoying a delicious morning tea. Funding opportunitiesLooking for funding to support your next project or idea? The opportunities below may be of interest. For even more grants and useful resources to support your work, visit and bookmark Council’s Other funding opportunities webpage, which is updated regularly. Applications are now open for the Empowering Queensland Women grant program, funded by the Queensland Government through the Office for Women. Grants of up to $10,000 are available to community groups and organisations to deliver projects that improve the economic security of women and girls across Queensland, including initiatives focused on skills development, financial literacy, leadership and participation. Applications close: 4:00 pm, Monday 13 April 2026 Applications are now open for the Diggers Services Club Annual Community Grants, funded by Diggers Services Club. The grants support not‑for‑profit community groups, and service or ex‑service organisations in Logan City to help achieve their goals. Funding may be provided as cash grants, donations, goods, or access to club facilities, with applications assessed by the Club’s Board. Applications close: Monday 8 June 2026 Applications are now open for the Kitchen Garden Kickstart Grants 2026, delivered by the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation and funded by General Mills. The grants support under‑resourced schools to establish a Kitchen Garden Program, with successful applicants receiving a $5,000 infrastructure grant and a two‑year program membership. Funding can be used for items such as garden beds, soil and seedlings, kitchen appliances, tools, storage and accessible learning spaces that support hands‑on food education. Applications close: 11:59 pm, Friday 3 April 2026 Expressions of interest will open soon for the 2025-26 Volunteer Grants Round, funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Social Services. Grants of $1,000 to $5,000 will support not‑for‑profit community organisations that rely on volunteers, helping remove barriers to volunteering and strengthen volunteer‑led activities. Funding can be used for items such as insurance, communication tools or equipment that supports volunteers. Organisations are advised to read the Grant Opportunity Guidelines and contact their local Federal MP for details on how to submit an expression of interest.
