The STP&A Conference is the oldest and one of the most influential academic gatherings in the field of arts management and cultural policy. STP&A participants are drawn from a broad range of disciplines including political science, sociology, economics, law, arts management, arts education, art history, museum studies, cultural studies, education, and policy studies as well as arts managers and artists. This year, the 2022 Conference will be hosted at Hongik University in Seoul, Korea, on December 14 - 17, 2022 addressing the plenary theme Arts and Cultural Governance in Transition. AEP Seeks Student Representative for Advisory Council The Arts Education Partnership is a national network of more than 100 organizations dedicated to advancing arts education. AEP is the nation’s hub for arts and education leaders, building their leadership capacity to support students, educators and learning environments. Through research, reports, convenings and counsel, leaders gain knowledge and insights to ensure that all learners receive an excellent arts education. The AEP seeks a 2022/23 Student Representative to serve on its advisory council. As part of the Education Commission of the States, AEP maintains the advisory council as a body to provide guidance and advice. The Student Representative will be a full member of the council, serving a one-year term from June 1, 2022 – May 31, 2023. Applications for this position are due April 22, click here to learn more. Community Events Enhancing Mental Focus and Wellbeing presented by SU Learning Assistance Programs Having a mind is hard, but it can get easier with practice. Deciding to have a new mindset or attitude doesn't usually work; instead, you can learn new, science-backed mental strategies to help manage your thinking. Struggles with procrastination, self-criticism, and worrying often reflect mental habits, rather than unchangeable parts of your personality. This workshop will be facilitated by clinical psychologist and psychology professor, Dr. Rachel Turow. Winter Northwest by SPACE at Magnuson Soman’s photographs bring their subjects to life. Utilizing a delicate sensitivity towards light, Soman observes animals in their natural environment, perfectly capturing their emotion, strength, and fragility. Soman’s photography, and great love of the wilderness inspires change, and builds awareness about wildlife conservation. Winnie The Pooh presented by StoryBook Theater Join Winnie the Pooh (played by Buddy Todd, MFA'21) and his forest friends as they explore, experience and exclaim the importance of friendship and how to work together in the Hundred Acre Wood. Anthropocene: Artist Talk + Reception by METHOD Gallery Anthropocene looks back to the Industrial Revolution and the ordinary people who, often unwittingly, launched and participated in practices that created the environmental catastrophes we see today, from historic floods and wildfires to deforestation and extinction events. What has changed since then? How different are they from us? What did they know and when did they know it? #DoTheWork Arts Leadership Formation Part of our commitment, as Arts Leaders, is to remain open and teachable in the formation of our leadership posture and approach.
