![]() August 2022![]() A Message from the Dean of Students To the parents, guardians, and families of our new students, welcome to the SUNY Geneseo community. To our returning families, welcome back! This issue of the family newsletter is largely limited to material you and your student need to know before Move-In Day and the start of classes. And do keep in mind that this is just a summary—your student will have been hearing from Residence Life, Student Health and Counseling, and other departments about deadlines and ways to prepare for their arrival on campus. If you’d like more news about the College, you can subscribe to the monthly community edition of Geneseo’s e-newsletter One College Circle or follow Geneseo on Facebook or other social media platforms. And as always, if you have any questions or concerns, you can feel free to contact me or the Center for Community staff. We’re more than happy to assist you. To all, a happy new academic year! Lenny Sancilio All incoming and returning students should have received their housing assignments, along with information about Move-In Days. Please visit the link below for all the move-in details. Each resident will receive, via their Geneseo email, an assigned time for check-in at the College Stadium. Please adhere to assigned times—doing so will aid in a smooth move-in process for everyone. • New Student Check-In: August 24, 8 a.m.–4 p.m. Resources Orientation and Weeks of Welcome (WOW) help transition first year and transfer students to the next steps of their academic and life journeys. Participation in Orientation and WOW activities is one of the best ways to start getting the most out of the Geneseo experience. Questions? Email orientation@geneseo.edu or call 585-245-5851. Geneseo’s COVID protocols are now posted on our website. Please note the guidance is subject to change. Some reminders: • All SUNY students are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Students should have received emails about the following from Campus Auxiliary Services (cas@geneseo.edu). They are encouraged to submit their ID card information early so their card is ready when they arrive. Resources Students can place a textbook order by going to the Barnes and Noble online bookstore or by clicking the "my books" tab on their myGeneseo account. Click on "Textbooks" or "Shop Textbooks," enter the course information, and our system will provide the required and recommended books for their courses. Students can select whether they want to rent or buy and the preferred condition (subject to availability). Students may opt to have their books shipped to an off-campus address or pick-up in-store. The bookstore also offers price matching with amazon.com and BN.com. Questions? Contact the bookstore at 585-245-5866. If you or your student requires reasonable accommodations for the move-in process, please contact the Office of Accessibility Services via email at access@geneseo.edu, or call 585-245-5112 prior to your move-in date. The office can also answer questions regarding the process for requesting academic accommodations, auxiliary aides, and support services. It is recommended that students participate in the academic accommodations request process prior to the start of the semester. The College maintains a CIT Self Help website with information about the use of mobile devices at Geneseo and their applications, including the Geneseo and Canvas mobile apps as well as details about the wireless network, email access, Google calendar, and more. Questions? Ask CIT. Call 585-245-5588, chat, or submit a request and they will be happy to assist you. ![]() What would you like to read about in the Family Newsletter? Let us know! ![]() |
