Dear Residents,

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Strathfield Park last Saturday to celebrate the start of Spring at our Spring Festival! The record crowds loved Bluey and Bingo, the carnival rides and kids gardening activities, with flower crowns completely selling out! The older kids enjoyed the laser tag and parkour activities, and all attendees left with joyful memories. Continuing the community event vibes, Moon Festival is on Saturday 26 September 2026 along The Crescent, Homebush West. Please see more details below and I hope to see you there!

Homebush West's Biggest Cultural Celebration is Returning Saturday 26 September

Council's Moon Festival is returning in a couple of weeks to The Crescent, Homebush West! You and your family and friends are invited to join us from 1pm for a feast of flavour, culture and entertainment.

 Swing by to enjoy delicious food, stunning performances and lively lion dancing. Celebrating the Moon Festival is more than just a joyful gathering,  it honours the rich cultural heritage that makes our local community so vibrant.

Update from Strathfield's Young Citizen of the Year

Hello everyone, it’s Anoop here, Strathfield Council’s Young Citizen of the Year 2026.

This term has been another busy and meaningful one, particularly as I move closer to completing my final year of high school. With the HSC examinations now only a month away, much of my time has been focused on preparing for this important milestone. Balancing study with my ongoing school, community and leadership commitments has certainly been challenging, but it has also reinforced the importance of discipline, organisation and perseverance.

Most recently, I have been involved in organising a fundraiser through the Homebush Boys High School Prefect Body to raise money in support of those affected by the recent disaster in Nepal. As the situation has unfolded, it has been encouraging to see our school community come together to support those impacted. Working alongside my fellow prefects, we hope that our efforts can make a meaningful contribution and demonstrate the importance of supporting communities during times of hardship. With the HSC now only a month away, I have also been increasingly focused on my academic commitments. This final period of preparation has required me to become fully focused on revision and consolidating the knowledge and skills I have developed throughout my years of schooling. While it is certainly a demanding time, I am looking forward to completing this important chapter of my education.

Outside of school, I have continued my involvement with the Australian Air Force Cadets. During our second biannual bivouac, I had the opportunity to lead cadets through the bush while helping them develop their fieldcraft skills. The challenging environment provided an opportunity to strengthen leadership, teamwork and resilience, while also supporting younger cadets as they developed confidence and practical skills.

Although the coming weeks will be particularly busy as I prepare for the HSC, I am grateful to have continued contributing to my school and wider community throughout the term. These experiences have allowed me to continue developing as a student and leader, while reinforcing the importance of service, teamwork and supporting others.
