Join us tomorrow for Australia Day at Strathfield Square

January was a month filled with festivities in our area. I was delighted to attend The Harvest Festivals of India Sub-continent and Lunar New Year celebrations this week. Both events were held at Homebush West and are a great example of the diverse cultures that are thriving in our local community.

A Harmony Day event will also be held on 21 March at Homebush West Community Centre which will celebrate multiculturalism and belonging for all Australians. Keep your eyes peeled for more announcements closer to the date.

Tomorrow, I will have the honour of welcoming 51 new conferees from 10 different countries to our home as they take the pledge to become Australian Citizens on Australia Day. We will also hold an event later in the day at 4pm in Strathfield Square. Join us for a smoking ceremony, didgeridoo performance, free kids activities, a movie screening and delicious food from various businesses in the Square.

Australia Day at Strathfield Square

Come down to Strathfield Square this Australia Day 26 January from 4pm to reflect, respect and celebrate our nation. Celebrations will include a traditional smoking ceremony and digeridoo performance at 4.30pm, face painting, a reptile display, craft activity, lamington making workshop and a special Movies in the Park screening of the film Happy Feet.

Australia Day Opening Hours

Strathfield Council Customer Service Centre and Strathfield Council Library & Innovation Hub will be closed tomorrow, Thursday 26 January due to the Australia Day public holiday. Council is contactable, 24 hours 7 days a week on 9748 9999.

Connector Bus Review

Council is seeking your feedback on the Strathfield Connector bus service, for possible cost saving measures. This review is running concurrently with the consultation for the proposed special rate variation. Have your say and share your feedback by 31 January 2023.

Visions with Variety: Celebrating Seniors, will be exhibiting at the Ironbark Gallery from 2 Feb, featuring a wide range of works from oil painting, drawing, paper-based craft and textiles. To attend the official opening, register for a spot before 30 Jan!

Go4Fun Program

Go4Fun® is a 10-week healthy lifestyle program for kids aged 7-13 who are above a healthy weight, and their families. Registrations are now open! Sessions run once a week for two hours after school, during term.
