Community StoriesLogan Celebrates 50 Years of NAIDOC Week This July, Logan will come alive with events celebrating the 50-year milestone of NAIDOC Week. From storytelling and family fun to exhibitions and performances, the city is honouring the histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Highlights include the Uncle Reg Knox Memorial Exhibition, a new First Nations showcase at the Living Museum of Logan, and children’s Dreamtime story sessions. Explore the full event guide in the Our Logan online story. 👇 ![]() OpportunitiesCommunity planning meeting: Multicultural Career and Job Expo Queensland Training and Employment Services (QTES) is excited to announce the return of the Multicultural Career and Job Expo to Logan for its third year. As preparations begin for the event in August, community leaders and members are invited by QTES to a planning meeting to share ideas and input on making this year’s event even more impactful and inclusive. When: Saturday 12 July, 11am to 1pm ![]() Expressions of interest open for Community Facility in Underwood Council is seeking expressions of interest from eligible organisations interested in leasing the Community Facility located at 982 Underwood Road, Priestdale. The facility is currently being used by a meal service provider, but it could also be utilised for other uses as it is comprised of office spaces, a commercial kitchen, cleaning storage room, food pantry room, kitchenette, unisex disabled toilets and has solar panels (no battery). Council is excited to share that the first round of Community Project Grants has been extended, with applications now closing at midnight, Tuesday 29 July. For this round, we are encouraging applications for projects and programs with a seniors and/or mental health focus. This is a great opportunity to bring meaningful projects to life – especially with Queensland Seniors Month and Queensland Mental Health Week just around the corner in October 2025. Applications must be for activities that begin after outcomes are announced. ![]() Build your cultural capability – online training Due to increasing interest, Multicultural Australia is offering two upcoming online sessions of its highly regarded Introduction to Cultural Capability training. This 90-minute session equips participants with practical tools for inclusive and culturally responsive engagement. Open to individuals across sectors, the training explores how culture shapes communication and behaviour and offers strategies for respectful cross-cultural practice. 11am ![]() People Places Prize 2025 Got a creative idea to make public spaces more inclusive, vibrant or sustainable? Creative thinkers are invited to apply for the People Places Prize 2025, celebrating innovative ideas for urban environments. This national competition invites Australians aged 18+ to submit bold, community-focused ideas for improving urban environments. The winner will receive $10,000 and have their concept showcased online and in an exhibition. Individuals or groups of two, three or four people are welcome to enter the Prize. Creative ideas can be presented visually (images, video, film) and in written form. Enjoy a vibrant day of free food, music, games for all ages, face painting, and dancing. It’s a chance to connect, have fun, and honour the strength and diversity of refugee communities. Food will be provided, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own mat or picnic blanket for comfort. This year marks 50 years of honouring First Nations culture, and the theme The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy shines a light on young Indigenous leaders and the wisdom of their communities. Enjoy a full day of cultural performances, weaving workshops, damper-making, food trucks, market stalls, rides, music and more. Everyone is welcome! When: Tuesday 8 July, 8am to 3pm ![]() Stories from the Kitchen 🍽️🌍 Beenleigh Neighbourhood Centre invites everyone to their next Stories from the Kitchen - a community dinner celebrating food, culture and connection. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish from their culture, share their own unique story and connect with others in the local community. Whether it’s a family recipe, an Aussie favourite or a dish from afar, every plate has a story! Spaces are limited, so registration is essential to secure a spot. When: Saturday 12 July, 5pm to 7.30pm ![]() Community ProgramsConstruction, mentoring and life skills for young people Referrals are now open for Overflow Foundation’s New Horizon Project - an empowering 8-week program for young people aged 15–24 who are disengaged from education, at risk of offending, or seeking a positive new direction. In partnership with Everthought College of Construction, and funded by the Queensland Government, participants will complete a Certificate I in Construction (3 days/week) and engage in a mix of mentoring, life skills, recreation, and substance misuse support (5 days/week) in a youth-friendly environment. Referral Deadline: Friday 5 July 2025 When: Starts Monday 29 July 2025 ![]() Funding OpportunitiesApplications are now open for the Queensland Country Bank – Good for Good Community Grants. Eligible not-for-profit organisations are invited to apply for funding of up to $30,000 to deliver projects that make a practical difference to the lives of people in Queensland communities - projects that help Queenslanders ‘live better’. The grants support practical, community-focused initiatives that enable people to participate, connect, grow, learn, and feel safe. Applications close: 31 August 2025 Applications are now open for the RACQ Foundation Community Grants - FY26 Round 1. RACQ Foundation helps Queensland community groups, charities, organisations, First Nations Councils and clubs impacted by natural disasters. This includes both recovery grants and resilience-based project grants which may relate to physical, nature-based and social solutions. Applications close: 5pm (AEST) 12 September 2025 Applications are now open for the Greenbank Services Club Community Benefit Foundation Grants. Not-for-profit organisations delivering vital services in Brisbane’s Southside suburbs are invited to apply for funding to support projects in youth, health, culture, disability, environment, and community welfare. Grants range from $1,000 to $10,000, with larger amounts available for projects that show meaningful impact. Applications close: 31 July 2025 Applications will open on 21 July. 2025 for the Music For All – School and Community Grants Not-for-profit groups, schools, and community organisations can apply for up to $2,000 to support music-making, learning, or participation projects. Funding is available for new or expanding programs that bring music into communities. Applications must show community support and meet eligibility criteria. Applications close: 31 August 2025 Expressions of interest are now open for the 2025 Women & Change $50,000 Grant. Eligible charities are invited to apply for funding for projects that are Queensland based, with grant funds primarily making a tangible and measurable difference to the quality of life of Queenslanders living in disadvantage and in need of support. Applications close: 25 July 2025 (EOI stage) Applications are now open for Round 124 – Super Round of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF). This is Queensland’s largest one-off community grants program, offering up to $100,000 to not-for-profit groups for projects that enhance community wellbeing. The GCBF distributes approximately $60 million annually to support services, leisure activities, and opportunities across Queensland.
