Dear Residents, Have you seen the renewal works at Strathfield South? Intersecting light and dark grey coloured pavers and verge planting along Liverpool Road, have brought life to the area and the local businesses are loving the new look. I had the chance to see the transformation myself before Christmas and congratulated Council staff on their work.

This fun and family friendly community event will celebrate our nation, its achievements and most of all, its people. It will include a smoking ceremony and didgeridoo performance, and free children’s activities. At 7.30pm there will be a special free movie screening of the Australian drama film 'Blueback' - a heart-warming tale of family, friendship, and the power of one person to make a difference. January School Holiday Program Strathfield Council Library have some free activities for your kids to take part in these Summer School Holidays! There are still a few spots left to book into these following activities: 🎨 Mixed Media Art Workshop (Ages 13-18) --- Strathfield Council Library will also be holding a Youth Open Space (Ages 12-18) where the Ironbark Room will have table tennis among other games to relax and unwind during the school holidays. No bookings are required for these sessions: 📅 Thursday 15th January: 1 - 4pm Homebush Bay Drive and Australia Avenue intersection upgrade The Australian and NSW Governments are investing $200 million to upgrade the intersection of Homebush Bay Drive, Australia Avenue and Underwood Road, and you're invited to have your say and provide your valuable feedback! Residents are also invited to attend a community information session at Strathfield Train Station (Everton Road) on Tuesday 13 January 3pm - 5pm. Lego Club is back for 2026! Back by popular demand, Strathfield Council Library’s Lego club is back for another year of creativity, colour, and inspiration! Whether your child builds mythical creatures, dream homes or entire cities, this is the place where ideas click into place. 📅 First Tuesday of every month 2026 Waste Calendars Council’s 2026 Waste Calendars are now available to be picked up from Council’s Customer Service Centre and at Strathfield Council Library & Innovation Hub! If you are unable to pick up a calendar due to health, illness or injury, please contact bins@strathfield.nsw.gov.au to get it delivered to your home address. Put on your Dancing Shoes - Line Dancing for Seniors is Back! Join us for FREE line dancing classes at Strathfield Town Hall, led by the beloved and well-known instructor, Pat Wilcock! Class Schedule: Come for the fun, stay for the rhythm - and let’s dance together! No booking needed. First come first serve. Workforce Preparation Looking to land your first job or re-entering the workforce? This 10-week Workforce Preparation course with MTC will teach you the skills you need to set career goals, identify your skills and abilities, search for jobs, apply for jobs and prepare for interviews. Classes for this course will be on Mondays & Wednesdays 10am - 1pm starting on Monday 9th February 2026 and will be held at Strathfield Library & Innovation Hub. The Strathfield Community Garden at Lakers Reserve has been flourishing over the Christmas and New Years period! Our dedicated members have been busy harvesting a lot of vegetables in the last few weeks. The Strathfield Community Garden is always looking for new community members to help keep our community garden looking vibrant and thriving. All are welcome to join. In 2026, the garden will be open every Thursday from 3pm to 5.30pm (weather permitting), as well as on the last Saturday of each month from 10am to 2pm (weather permitting).
