Disability Action WeekSunday 23 November to Sunday 30 November 2025 Disability Action Week is a chance to reflect on our progress and look at what we can all do to build a more accessible and inclusive state. The 2025 theme is ‘Communicate. Connect. Create’. Community StoryCarers Queensland - driving inclusive change Carers Queensland has been working alongside communities to create lasting change. One of their goals is to ensure people with disability lead the conversation and shape the inclusive changes they need to achieve their goals. Explore the projects they’ve been delivering and access resources designed to keep inclusion on the agenda – giving people with disability a real voice and a seat at the table.
Opportunities and ResourcesGrow your leadership journey today! Queenslanders with Disability Network (QDN) has launched its 2026 Emerging Leaders program – a program focused on building the leadership capabilities of people with disability to lead and influence change in their own lives and in their communities. Each year, up to 25 participants aged 18 and over are selected to develop their capabilities at individual, community and systems levels. It’s a great chance to grow, connect and lead!
Learn about Blue Card changes and compliance Blue Card Services regularly hosts events, workshops and online sessions to help organisations meet their obligations under the blue card system. The Ready, Set, Compliant! sessions explain recent changes to blue card laws, including linking requirements, the employee register and how the organisation portal can support compliance. Check your cyber health The Department of Home Affairs has developed the Cyber Health Check Tool, an exciting initiative that helps Australian organisations and the community take simple steps to strengthen their cyber defences. In just five minutes, you’ll answer simple questions and receive a tailored action plan with practical steps to improve your cyber defences. It’s an easy first step to check your cyber maturity and prioritise improvements for a safer digital future.
My aged care information session Amputees Queensland invites community members to an informative session with Greg O’Reilly from Alteris Financial Group. The session will cover recent changes to the My Aged Care system and what they mean for individuals. This free event is a great opportunity to learn and ask questions. Community EventsBody Code by Vulcana Vulcana’s Body Code is a powerful blend of circus, poetry, research, technology and live music, created in collaboration between Vulcana, artists with lived experience of disability and AI researchers at Queensland University of Technology. This evocative performance explores how technology shapes our future and celebrates inclusion through art. Don’t miss this thrilling experience that challenges and inspires. Park Ridge Community Christmas Markets Celebrate the festive season at the Park Ridge Community Christmas Markets! With over 40 stalls, delicious food, live music and fun activities for kids - including a jumping castle, hayrides and face painting - there’s something for everyone. Bring your friends and family for a joyful Sunday in the Park Ridge and Greenbank community. When: Sunday 23 November, 8am to 2pm
Logan Dementia Choir End-of-Year Christmas Concert The Logan Dementia Choir invites the community to a joyful end-of-year Christmas concert. This event celebrates inclusion by empowering people living with dementia and their supporters to lead active, healthy lives through possibilities, not limitations. Enjoy music, song, dance and social connection, with morning tea included. Raffle tickets (cash only) will be available with plenty of prizes! When: Wednesday 26 November, 11:30am to 1:30pm
Flagstone Twilight Markets and Community Christmas Carols Celebrate the festive season at Flagstone’s Twilight Markets and Community Christmas Carols! Enjoy live entertainment, carols, market stalls and delicious food. Kids will love the Elves Trail and special visits from Santa and The Grinch. Bring a picnic rug and soak up the joyful atmosphere as the evening ends with a dazzling laser show. Support local makers and join in the fun! When: Saturday 6 December, 4.30pm to 8.30pm
Loganlea Community Centre Family Fun Day Loganlea Community Centre is hosting a Family Fun Day packed with festive activities for all ages. Enjoy a free sausage sizzle, giveaways, Christmas crafts, market stalls and music trivia. There’ll be Christmas cookie making, a belly dance display and a cake cooking competition (senior and junior, decorated and undecorated categories) - plenty of fun for everyone! Community ProgramsTherapy Services coming to The Buzz Yarrabilba The Buzz Yarrabilba is bringing therapy services by Lema Therapeutic Services, including Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Positive Behaviour Support, to the community. Starting 8 January 2026, appointments will be available every Thursday, offering support for children and adults in a welcoming community setting. When: Every Thursday starting
Neighbourhood Play at Plunkett Park Neighbourhood Play is a weekly, community-led session designed to bring local families together for connection, fun and friendship. The project is proudly supported by Logan Together, Family Place, and The Salvation Army. Kids of all ages can enjoy games, toys and supervised activities, while parents and carers relax and connect. Free food is provided, and no booking is needed -just come along and join in! When: Every Monday, 3:30pm to 4:30pm
Funding OpportunitiesApplications are now open for therapy support grants offered by The Frankie Foundation. These grants help families bridge gaps in NDIS funding by covering up to $1,000 for therapy sessions for children aged 2-12 years who have an NDIS plan or are awaiting approval. Grants are awarded monthly, and payments go directly to registered service providers. Applications close: No deadline - ongoing monthly rounds Applications are now open for the Building Digital Skills Grant, offered by Good Things Foundation. This program provides $3,000-$20,500 to help community organisations deliver free Be Connected digital literacy programs for Australians aged 50+. Funding supports mentoring sessions that build confidence and skills in using technology. Applications close: 28 November 2025 Applications are now open for the Multicultural Grassroots Initiatives – Round 2 grant, funded by the Department of Home Affairs. This program supports community-led projects that celebrate cultural diversity, foster social participation, and promote inclusion through events and programs. Eligible organisations can apply for funding to strengthen multicultural connections and reduce discrimination. Applications close: 8pm QLD time, 5 December 2025 Applications are now open for Queensland Gives’ 2026 Grant Round. The 2026 theme is "supporting strong, vibrant and resilient communities". The General Fund grant program supports organisational capacity building of mid-tier organisations. Grants are available up to a maximum of $40,000 per individual grant. Eligible initiatives may include training, governance, volunteer support, and strategic planning. DGR1 registered charities are encouraged to apply. Applications close: 12 December 2025 Applications are now open for Round 3 of Council's Community Project Grants. Round 3 invites community organisations to apply for funding that supports long-term outcomes aligned with #NeighboursEveryDay - Relationships Australia’s year-round campaign promoting social connection, wellbeing, and community resilience. One-off events without long-term outcomes may be better suited to our Community Event Funding program. Applications close: Tuesday, 9 December 2025 Applications are open for Council's Community Event Funding. Event Sponsorship Funding is available up to $20,000 for larger-scale events that: appeal to visitors and the broader community and increase the reputation and/or raise the profile of the City of Logan. Applications close: Tuesday, 9 December 2025 Small Event Grants up to $5,000 are open for smaller events that are for a particular sector or geographic area in the community.
