May this year unfold into spiritual progress for each and all! To me, 2020 implies clarity of balanced vision, being able to see near and far, and being able to focus and interpret what we are seeing with accuracy. Of course, past sanskaras tend to influence the accuracy of our interpretation of daily experiences. To me, 2020 is also an opportunity to bring clarity to our past sanskaras. Greta Thunberg has influenced me to upgrade my activism with environmental law, guided by Vedic principles of balance of each of the five primordial elements of earth, water, fire (e.g. manufacture), air and ether (space). So far our collective misuse and pollution of each of these elements are now seemingly beyond redress. Can I invite you, dear reader, to please pick one or all, and dedicate to yourself also to the peaceful, persistent restoration of a natural, healthy function of each/all, element, OK? First within our own lives, then within the community fabric to which we belong. Nowadays, hormonal imbalance of our youth, steeped in B.P.A.’s and so many other hormone disrupter chemicals may not be curable by any means, though plant medicines are still our best option to increase chlorophyll molecules which restore normal oxygenation for cellular cleansing and rejuvenation. Cellular oxygen can then help purify nutritional uptake and waste release processes. Age-old practices of pranayama, yoga, meditation and Ayurveda are more needed than ever for the revival of the science of balance. So many youth are now going into biodynamic farming, sustainable construction, non-polluting power generation, no-waste industries and avoidance of plastics. Let’s require of ourselves and communities that the land, waterways, industry, air travel and space exploration be sustainable and non-polluting throughout, beginning at home. This year provides many opportunities for furthering our understanding of Ayurveda, the complete body/mind science of healing ourselves and our environment, accumulated over thousands of years of combined human history and experience of health and suffering. Remembering how to live in balance with nature may lead us back to understanding what must change to restore human health and well being. Suggested topics to explore include: Prerequisite for this course: Investment: $650 USD ($855 Cdn + GST) Future sessions may include other aspects of the Eight-Fold Assessment Process, Case Management, and Interpreting Test Results, depending on participant interest. Please send your topics of choice by email at ***** NADI PARIKSHA (Radial Pulse Assessment) Pulse diagnostic science is the most important of the Eight-Fold Assessment techniques of ancient Ayurveda, and is best learned in person in the oral tradition. In December 2019, I again had the golden opportunity for continuing study with my beloved mentor, Vaidya Vasant D. Lad, M.A.Sc. at the Sharanya Hospital’s A.V.P. highly respected campus in rural Tamil Nadu, India. More than 125 Ayurveda doctors from all over India came to this extraordinary seminar and I was one of a very few foreigners permitted to attend. The organizers knew of my dedication to Ayurveda and Dr. Lad and recognized my qualifications to participate During the recent seminar, Dr. Lad and the organizers gave me so very much honour somehow, perhaps because of still studying diligently after the age of 70! I remember after 9 years of study with Dr. Lad, I felt as if I could begin to understand Ayurveda, though it took me much longer to feel that I could understand the specialized and much sought-after pulse assessment method Dr. Lad has developed over decades of clinical practice. Originally, I had been so struck by the efficacy of his diagnostic acumen and how each person reported becoming well from his/her prior symptoms. I felt inclined to understand how to efficiently pass on this skill, which took so long for me to master back then. Dr. Lad has long ago given me his invaluable blessing for teaching this topic to others, showing his example of giving with both hands. The learning format of the March program is an 11-day retreat-style seminar, with a day off after 5 days of study, followed by another 5 days of study and practice. Included are 2 important case studies and a balance of theory and practice among participants. This program is open to graduates of all Ayurveda study programs, B.A.M.S. practitioners and those fluent in Ayurveda anatomy & physiology. Many graduates are seeking a more intimate learning experience to help verify one’s findings, giving clarity and confidence to progress and take the skill home to one’s clinical practice. This class has not been offered for two years. Time is needed to master Pulse Assessment, and home practice is needed for clinical application and integration over time, like practicing music. Comment from a recent graduate: I traveled all the way from New York to participate in this training and I’m so glad I made the journey! Jaisri’s mastery of the pulse, along with her clarity of delivery and the reverence she brings from her mentor, Dr V. Lad, has fortified not only my understanding of Nadi Pariksha, but has also helped me to hone my intuition through increased compassion for the client. This intimate program has given me many hours of practice and integration, something that is more difficult in programs of a larger size. I would happily recommend this retreat-style experience to anyone who wishes to understand the art. You will practice developing inner stillness and profound body awareness, for self-healing, especially of past unresolved traumas. Our karmic history is recording in the connective tissues or bodily fascia, unfolding our destiny in this golden opportunity of the human body. Self-realization occurs by itself within the stillness of inner awareness. You will learn protocols such as the General Session, Balancing of the principal pathways of Vata, Pitta and Kapha, how to identify individual concerns, disturbances and their therapeutic techniques. This program reminds us of our own unchanging but forgotten inner stillness, amidst this whirlwind of daily living, the source of spontaneous self-realization. Turiya Therapy helps restore order, so there is no disorder in body and mind. Neuro-plasticity occurs by itself, but now with a deep awareness of our inner unique path to unconditional love. For over thirty years I’ve made my livelihood with these tried and true protocols based in ancient marma science. Understand yourself and others like never before. So many, many miracles of self-healing have been witnessed and experienced by the grace of Sri Dhanvantari, the God of Healing according to Ayurveda through Turiya Therapy sessions called the deepest-acting of energy healing techniques. Through this bodywork method, I successfully financed my continuing education in Ayurveda over perhaps thirty years of clinical practice from age 36 to 68, while providing for my family as a single mother. It’s a very gratifying career in Ayurveda healing arts, one that provides abundance, freedom, self-healing and happiness. Investment will be earned back in a month of 40 sessions while strengthening your value as a provider. This is my only program with no pre-requisites, though knowing the language of Ayurveda will help you get much more from your investment. Tentative Dates: · 21-day treatment program Nov. 15 - Dec. 12 Option 1 allows for those who choose the 3-week treatment program (4 weeks in all with rest days before and after) to be home for Christmas if desired. Of course, the diet will remain as per the integration phase of treatment. Option 2 allows for those who wish to spend US Thanksgiving with family. Option 3 is the most thorough 6-week program (7 weeks in all with rest days before and after) supports deeper healing throughout all 7 dhatus. Preferred. For all participants, the integration phase is about 3 months after treatment, so please plan accordingly to take full advantage. If you plan tourist travel to coincide with your healing retreat, be sure to book this prior to your Ayurveda panchakarma program, and not afterward. The period following your treatment will be scheduled for rest and integration. Take-home medicines and incidentals such as laundry and internet are not included. Please contact me for travel arrangement tips. The climate is a tropical savannah, where the breeze from the Western Ghats mountains provides comfortable temperatures at this time of year. Expect rain at times. The retreat centre is managed according to Vedic teachings and principles, including Vaastu, Ayurveda, and Vedanta. A lovely feature of this program is the opportunity for each patient to plant a tree before returning home, contributing to the exquisite botanical garden that is the surrounding campus grounds. Last year I planted a mango tree, which will give fruit in as little as 4-5 years; this year I planted an ashoka tree, whose bark is used as an important Kapha-reducing medicine. Another participant will plant a sandalwood tree, an endangered species in India due to overharvesting. For 2020, the payment deadline is June 1st to ensure our accommodations of choice in this now much sought after model of sustainable living, Vedic management principles, and expert Ayurveda treatments. If you are not already following your Ayurveda program, it’s recommended you book your consultation to prepare well for making the best use of your investment. Fees for this program have gone up each of the last 5 years, and I’ve mostly absorbed these increases. Now though, the investment has gone up marginally to finally reflect a portion of these increases. Also 6 more treatment days are included in the longer program compared to last year. Compare the investment to having the ‘same’ treatment in the west – at least 3 times more, though this program cannot be duplicated outside our retreat centre location, I feel. Mostly locally sourced and fresh medicinal plants are used. Testimonials from recent participants: Hosting with Jaisri in India has been a truly transformative experience. Even though I have studied Ayurveda for many years, Jaisri’s extensive knowledge and experience of the subject and her deep compassion for people filled in my experience of PanchaKarma with much-needed information and tender loving care. It was very comforting to know that the smallest detail was being looked after so that I could focus on the business of healing. While the staff here is excellent and beyond expectation, I am so glad that I chose to go through the Pancha Karma process with that extra layer of compassion and guidance that Jaisri so generously supplied. I will definitely return! J.T. Ayurveda Practitioner, Teacher, Spa Owner To read the full testimonial and recent account of the author, please click here.
