Nominations For SLSNSW Director Positions

Surf Life Saving New South Wales (SLSNSW) is calling for nominations for SLSNSW Director positions for the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 seasons. Please note that the positions to be voted on at the Election Meeting on Saturday, 5th May 2018 will be for the positions of President, Director of Finance, Director of Surf Sports and Director of Education for two year terms.

Candidates interested in nominating for any of the Directors positions should complete and sign the nomination form found online here and lodge it with their Branch by 3pm, Friday, 30th March 2018.

More information regarding the nomination process can be found via Memo: 2018 Calling For Nominations For SLSNSW Director Positions.

Coastal Issues Survey

Surf Life Saving Australia have released a survey designed to identify large-scale, regional coastal issues as lifeguards and surf lifesavers experience them. It is not club or council-based, and the data will be unidentifiable. The survey does not contain any operational questions, rather focusing on understanding coastal problems. The information will be used to identify the current and future issues that lifeguards and surf lifesavers observe and will feed into a strategic plan to address these.

The survey contains 10 questions and should take about 5 minutes. Please click here to complete the survey.

Australian Lifesaving Boat Emergency Rescue Training

Surf Life Saving Lower North Coast Branch and Forster SLSC are holding an ALBERT Power Craft Training weekend on Friday 6 April to Sunday 8 April 2018 in Forster facilitated by the Far North Coast Branch.

The ALBERT program is recognised as a means of developing additional skills, practicing rescue training, refining emergency response capabilities using multiple rescue resources and increasing volume of active IRB teams.

For more information and to book your place please contact Julie Wilcox bjwilcox@optusnet.com.au or 0413 187 367.

Active Kids Provider Registration

SLSNSW has provided details of all NSW surf clubs to the Office of Sport (OOS) which means individual surf clubs do not need to register as providers within the program, this has already been completed for you!

Each surf club should by now have received an email directly from Office of Sport asking them to log in and confirm their most appropriate contact details at their club for this program. Please note this email would have been sent to the contact on file which in most cases was the Secretary or Administration Club Member.

If you can’t find the email, you will still be able to activate the business account for your club via ServicesNSW. To do this either follow the links from the email or visit www.service.nsw.gov.au. Once that is completed parents will have the ability to transact the Active Kids program vouchers against the account. If  you have any problems activating your club’s account, please call 13 77 88 (Service NSW Active Kids call centre), and the helpful staff from the OOS will be able to walk you through the activation steps. Thanks to the dozen clubs that have already activated their accounts!

Once your club is activated you can download official Office of Sport logos that illustrate the status of an Approved Provider under the program. To access the Approved Provider logo and a variety of materials for the promotion of Active Kids, please click here. If you’re creating your own material using the assets we’ve supplied, please send a copy of your creative to branding@sport.nsw.gov.au.

As the Nippers season is drawing to a close, SLSNSW will provide further information about the program and the benefit to surf clubs, including how to redeem vouchers this winter in the lead up to the recruitment period for season 18/19.

All information about the program can be found here.
