Atwell man found guilty of NDIS Worker Check breach

An NDIS Worker Screening compliance investigation has led to a prosecution in the Fremantle Magistrates Court. The accused has been fined $5,000 for providing false or misleading information in order to obtain an NDIS Check and ordered to pay $1,886 in court costs.

 

Information for registered NDIS providers

Under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (Worker Screening) Act 2020 (the Act) it is an offence to give false or misleading information to the NDIS Worker Screening Unit.

Registered NDIS providers are reminded to encourage workers compliance with the Act, including ensuring their application is completed correctly and they are aware of their NDIS Check obligations.

The NDIS Worker Screening Unit’s Compliance Team carry out proactive compliance activities and investigations to ensure workers are doing the right thing when it comes to NDIS Checks.
