Strathfield eNews No images? Click here 8 December 2022Cr Matthew Blackmore, Mayor of Strathfield Last weekend I attended the Strathfield Christmas Carols. It was a great event and I enjoyed meeting and chatting with many residents who were soaking up the sun and getting into the festive spirit. Don’t forget to visit our new Christmas decorations in Strathfield Square and the Nativity Scene outside Town Hall on Homebush Road. Many of you will have seen that Council is consulting with the community on a review of our asset management and funding structure. Council has been producing operating deficits for the past few years and has a $16.1 million funding backlog for renewing assets. This is a difficult position that previous Council’s should have addressed. The current Council is taking action now, to ensure our streets are clean, our roads and footpaths are in good condition, and our property values maintained. There is more information available on our website, including how you can have your say. Although these are tough decisions, I am confident in the strength and community spirit of Strathfield locals, and that we can support each other to protect our future. If you need help with any local issues, please feel free to contact me at 0406 099 048 or cr.mblackmore@strathfield.nsw.gov.au. Protecting Our Future Council is committed to long term financial sustainability and ensuring we maintain our assets, including roads and footpaths, to the highest quality for our residents. In order to meet this goal, Council is a proposing a Special Rate Variation (SRV) application. Your feedback is vital. You can find detailed information on the website, and how to Have Your Say, including surveys, information sessions and pop-up stalls. Please send your feedback by 31 January 2023.
