We are pleased to announce that we have three new products for you this holiday season! First, it's time to go walking in a winter Wonderland... Alice in Wonderland Fluxx, that is! This deck features the classic black and white original artwork by John Tenniel, plus a few illustrations by our very own Andrew Looney. You can learn more about that process in his blog article.

This version of Fluxx also features some fun new cards, such as the Jabberwock Creeper that eats one of your Keepers before moving on, the Rhyme Time New Rule that rewards players for speaking in rhyme, and five theme-related Actions, including Curiouser and Curiouser, which can potentially bring out several more Actions and/or Surprises, and Clean Cup, which requires everyone to change seats, taking their hand, but not their Keepers and Creepers with them.

This Wonderland Fluxx deck was a special "short run," meaning that we printed a limited amount and we might not ever print any more. Our retailers and distributors are fully stocked today, but we only have 500 left ourselves, so our distributors can't buy more when they run out. If you want this in your collection, you should get a copy from your favorite game store this holiday season while it is readily available.

Plus, we've got a special promo card called "Mock Turtle" that works best in Wonderland Fluxx, but can also be added to any Fluxx game that has an animal in it (and there are a surprising number of such decks!). The Mock Turtle will be our giveaway at a few trade shows in 2022 and should be available in our webstore for several years to come, so there's no big rush to grab that one - sorry it arrived after we started selling Wonderland Fluxx!

Next, we have two new Star Trek Fluxx expansion packs for you. We previously released the Bridge Pack, which is meant to be shuffled together with both Star Trek Fluxx (TOS) and Star Trek: The Next Generation Fluxx. We have now added two more packs that fix two problems we were having.

The first problem was that the Bridge Pack only works with the first two Star Trek Fluxx decks. Now that we've added Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Fluxx and Star Trek: Voyager Fluxx to the ranks, we wished we had a pack that would combine characters and items from all four series. The Archer and Porthos Packs fit that bill, with connections to all four Star Trek Fluxx decks! These packs are the most fun when you shuffle them together with all four Fluxxes, but they also work with any game individually or with any number of Star Trek Fluxxes shuffled together. And they even have cards to keep the game from going too long... a common problem when shuffling decks together.

The second problem was that there were many Star Trek Enterprise fans out there waiting for their turn, and sad to hear that we weren't going to make any more Star Trek Fluxx decks. Well, as their names imply, the Archer and Porthos Packs fit that bill very nicely! The Archer Pack focuses on some of the main characters of Star Trek Enterprise, as well as the time war subplot. The Porthos Pack focuses on the more lighthearted side of Enterprise lore, with cards such as Don't Give Him Cheese and Away Mission.

These two packs make great stocking stuffers for any Star Trek fans in your life, and can be supplemented with any of the four Star Trek Fluxxes they don't yet own, or the time travel game Star Trek Chrono-Trek!

So there you have it. Three "strange new worlds" for you to explore this winter! We hope you enjoy playing them as much as we enjoyed making them for you!

For those of you who haven't yet heard about our 25th Anniversary Silver Jubilee celebrations, we have a lot going on this year, including online events, raffle contests, giveaways, and more. Keep reading for details!

For those of you who have been following along all year and were wondering where we've been lately, please accept our deepest apologies. We had several life events that took us off course, including the death of Laurie's brother-in-law and Kristin coming down with diverticulitis--a nasty intestinal infection. She has been struggling with this for six weeks now, and spent three days in the hospital getting IV antibiotics. She has one more week of antibiotics to go, then a colonoscopy to make sure she doesn't need surgery, before she's out of the woods, but she is feeling better and we're all hopeful that she's got it beat.

EVENTS

In light of Kristin's ongoing health battles, we have been reluctant to schedule new events, for fear that health issues would prevent us from being able to make good on our plans. But Kristin seems to have recovered enough to tentatively move forward, so we have posted the remaining events for the year on our event website. Hopefully we will not need to cancel any of them, but we ask for your understanding if we do end up needing to.

And as an added bonus, we have made all events free to everyone for the rest of the year! No ticket needed, though you do need to register for each event you wish to attend (click the event number to get to the registration page). AND you can earn raffle tickets in our Rare Item Raffle for attending an event! We'd love to see you sometime soon and share a little holiday cheer.

Some highlights include:

• Halloween Pumpkin Carving or Crafting

• Gift Wrapping and Cookie Decorating sessions

• Some game playing events, including a few with special guests

• Two Q&A sessions--one about the history of Looney Labs, and one about the future, including a peek at upcoming products and prototypes Andy is working on

• A few rounds of Parsely, a puzzle party game in which Andy plays a computer and participants take turns giving him commands to move through an old-school text adventure

• Perhaps most exciting of all: a big birthday bash on November 12th. This party can handle 100+ guests and will include a variety of fun games, activities, and chances to just chat and hang out with the Looneys. We really hope that all of you will join us for this birthday event!

RARE ITEM RAFFLE

Congratulations to the 38 participants who won a rare item in our Q3 raffle! Prizes have been shipped out, so if you have not received yours, please let us know so that we can track it down for you!

It was interesting to see the variety of styles for placing tickets in buckets! Some folks put all of their tickets into just one bucket, trying hard to win their most coveted item. Others evenly placed their tickets across all of the buckets that were of interest to them. Still others placed their tickets in the least populous buckets to increase their chances of winning. All of these strategies panned out for some people, so that was fun!

Also please note that there was one bucket--for the 5 copies of Hypothermia--that originally had exactly 5 entrants, but two of those entrants moved their tickets to different buckets at some point, leaving only 3 official entrants for 5 prizes. We decided to award each of the 5 original entrants one of these prizes rather than not award two of the copies. Thank you to all for participatingn in the Q3 Raffle!

The Q4 Rare Item Raffle has now begun and we'd love for you all to join us! We have quite a few cool prizes that you could win, including perhaps the most valuable of the bunch. And all participants--whether you win or not--will be given a special "thanks for joining in the fun" prize in December.

It's definitely not too late to enter, but the sooner the better, since some ticket-earning activities can be done every day. There are a wide variety of fun things to do in order to win tickets, such as watch videos, play games with the Looneys, or take some photographs. We're hoping that participants will have fun not only because of the prizes, but because of the enjoyable activities along the way.

ADDITIONAL CONTESTS

In addition to the quarterly Rare Item Raffles, we have run a few other contests over the year, and plan to step that up a little this quarter. We have just completed a Logo Mosaic Contestand we are hoping to post at least three more over the next two months. Details will be announced on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and at the top of the contest page. (AND, again, you can earn more raffle tickets for participating in these smaller contests!)

GIVEAWAYS

We continue to include Silver Jubilee Gifts with every purchase from our web store. These gifts include two copies of Tiny Fluxx--one for you to keep, and one to give to a friend!

In addition, we are doing a physical mailing for our holiday gift this year. If you would like to receive a free gift in the mail, please sign up and give us your mailing address before November 26th, as the mailings will begin to ship in early December. What is the gift, you ask? That's a secret! But we think you'll like it.

Beyond these two physical gifts, we have released a wide variety of digital giveaways this year, and have a few more planned before 2021 is behind us. We will announce them on social media and at the top of the contests page when they are new, but all of the giveaways can be accessed via the "More Fun" tab in our Shopify store. It will be updated as new giveaways become available!

We really hope you'll get a chance to join us for at least some of all of this Silver Jubilee fun, and that you'll let your friends, family, and coworkers know about these opportunities as well. We'd love to grow our fan family!

It's a physical mailing that you don't want to miss! Simply make a free account at our Shopify store to let us know where to mail your gift. Happy Holidays to all!

I’ve been getting into the history of the pyramids and was wondering where I could find a copy of Playing with Pyramids?

A: Until quite recently, my answer to this would have been “good luck with your quest.” However, this is now very easy… since I found a box of them in the attic!  We just added them to our webstore for their original price of $12, available while supplies last.

For those who don’t know, we published this book in 2002, and at the time, it represented the state-of-the-art of pyramid gaming. Now, it’s a relic: a time capsule of how things were in the early days.

It’s hard to believe how far the system has come in these past 19 years, which is funny since the credits page starts by saying “Icehouse has changed and evolved enormously since the handmade test run of 100 game sets, packaged in stark black boxes, which we released in 1989.”

Icehouse. This book dates back to the days when we were still calling them Icehouse pieces, and includes the full rules to that original, difficult-to-learn game. It’s also focused on that game’s original standard, namely the 15 piece stash, which is how we were selling the pyramids at the time: in a tube containing 15 pyramids of the same color. The idea was, you’d build an Icehouse set with your own combination of the 10 colors, then use this rulebook to play various 15-piece stash games.

But consumers found that confusing, and stores didn’t know how to display them, and I was discovering that 15 pieces of one color is just way too many: 9 or even 3 is more often desirable, game design-wise. Then in 2006, I invented Treehouse and we drastically changed the way we were selling the system. Five years later, we reinvented our packaging approach again, and with the publication of Pyramid Primer #1,  this book became truly obsolete. But rather than dump them in the recycling bin, I stuck the last couple of boxes in our attic.

Playing with Pyramids is a 128 page trade paperback sized book containing various historical notes and the complete rules to 12 games: IceTower, Thin Ice, Zendo, Martian Backgammon, Volcano, Martian Chess, RAMbots, Pikemen, Zagami, Icehouse, Homeworlds, and Gnostica.

They also have an extensive demo library, a pre-owned games section, and a loyalty program. Thank you to fan Glenn Jingleman for suggesting that we feature Games Unlimited this month!
