Gold Coast's newest playground is opening

The Broadwater Parklands Play Attraction is now complete, and we're inviting you to come explore the new features. Join us to celebrate the grand opening tomorrow, 20 August, at Fisherman’s Lawn from 9am to 2pm. The focus of the event is the new play attraction, which will provide a place for people of different abilities and generations to play, interact and socialise. The new Play Attraction includes:

  • a spiral tower over four levels with interactive play equipment like a glockenspiel, binoculars, telescopes, suspended nets, rope tunnels and an enclosed slide
  • a water and sand play area with carved sandstone, bronze sea animals, water pumps, mini weirs and water gates
  • an elevated sand table designed as a 'fish and chip shop' that can accommodate wheelchairs
  • play equipment including play panels, swings, slides, trampolines, diggers, stepping stones, balance beams, a carousel, climbing walls, and climbing nets
  • new shelters with seating and barbecue facilities
  • lush subtropical landscaping and extensive lawn areas for social gatherings and picnics.

Don't forget you can use active travel to get there - take a bus, travel on the G:link or catch the train.

We're recognising the Gold Coast's neatest streets

Recognising the Gold Coast's neatest streets

Do you and your neighbours take pride in your lawn, house and collectively keep a neat street? We're recognising the Gold Coast's neatest streets and we want to hear from you.

If you’re well connected with your local street community and have a street that’s pretty neat, we're looking for streets where:

  • properties are tidy and well maintained
  • serious/unsafe maintenance issues are reported
  • neighbours know each other and get involved in keeping their street neat and safe.

If your street is worthy of being recognised in the 2022 My Neat Street Honour Roll, nominate your street today and go in the draw to win a $100 voucher. Nominations close Friday 30 September 2022. T&Cs apply.

How to your recycle used batteries

How to recycle your used batteries

Did you know used batteries don’t go in your household bin? Batteries can start fires, either in your bin or in recycling trucks, when they are crushed or damaged.

It’s estimated that 90 percent of Australia’s used batteries end up in landfill, and yet nearly all of the materials in batteries can be reused like lithium, cobalt and manganese.

But where should they go? B-Cycle has you covered. Just collect your used batteries, pop some clear sticky tape over the ends and drop them off at one of the over 60 locations across the Gold Coast.

You can also take them to one of our Recycle Street facilities, which accepts batteries and other materials for resource recovery.
