Year 7 iPads Update

We are still awaiting confirmation back from our suppliers for our Year 7 iPad roll out.

As Apple released a new iPad model at the end of September, the hold up is due to supply of the necessary cases to go with the devices. These must be approved models so the insurance covers each iPad. As soon as we have information about when the portal can open and orders can commence, we will let families know. There is no further action needed from families at this point.

Again, we sincerely apologise for the further delays on the device.

Green Star Milestone Blitz!

This week there were LOADS of students who made their Green Star Milestone this week and have received their badges! Huge congratulations to the students below for achieving this recognition. Who will be the first to get to the second milestone of Red Star? Who will be our next Green Star Milestone winners? Keep modelling our values!

Community Choir is Back!

We welcome all Parents, Students, Teachers and friends of our School21 community to join us on Friday 18th October from 4:15pm - 5:15pm in the Main Hall

This is a brilliant way to meet new parents, sing together and build connections with all the members of our school community in an informal setting.

Please arrive via reception by 4:15pm. We look forward to seeing you!

October Above and Beyond

Congratulations to our October Above and Beyond Out and About students from last month. Well done to Amalia, Freya, Reginae, Mala, Amelia, Nafisah, Zain, Tristan, Nebil, Kevin, Levis and Temi for being models of our values over the month. It was a pleasure to have hot chocolate and smoothies with you. Can't wait for the November crew!

Year 8 Gallery of Goddesses

This week our Middle School courtyard was transformed into a gallery full of images from Greek Mythology! Classes were exploring how women were represented in history and were exploring and critiquing a range of images. This will all form part of their English unit of work this half term on mythology!

Year 7 Sports Hall Athletics

The students below competed at Kingsford School this week. There represented the school brilliantly- showing excellence in their amazing performances, community in the school pride, openness by being coached and making changes to their techniques and humanity in being the loudest school when cheering and supporting.

We are awaiting the results to see if we have qualified to the next round! It was as a pleasure for Ms Jenkins to take them.

Flu Vaccine Information

The flu vaccine is available to be had at School on Tuesday 17th December in the afternoon for students in Reception to Year 6.  Consent forms will be coming home.  Can you please sign and send back to school indicating whether you would like your child to have the vaccine or not.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me via email at jpancho@school21.org.uk, alternatively you can phone helpline numbers on the leaflet that will be coming home with the consent form.

Thank you for your cooperation.

School Lunches

A reminder that Year 5 and 6 students continue to receive free school lunches as part of the Mayor of Newham's initiative, however, when students start Year 7 they must pay for their school lunches through your Parent Pay account. A letter was sent again last week regarding this, including how to sign up through the Newham website if you feel you are eligible for Free School Meals.

The letter is available again by clicking here.

All families can sign up for Free School Meals (if eligible) at any time; it is advisable that current Year 6 parents look into doing so this year to avoid delays when their child starts Year 7.

If your account runs out of funds, students are to visit Ms Nandra in E1 at lunch time - she will support students to get their lunch that day, and will contact parents to remind them to top up the account. Please note, we are unable to keep providing lunch for your child if the balance is still negative.

If you have any questions or require any support to sign up for Free School Meals, please contact Ms Nandra through the front reception or via email at rnandra@school21.org.uk.

Update your Child's Walking Home Alone Permission

All Year 5 and 6 students whose parents give permission for them to travel home alone must complete the online permission form sent home earlier this week. The link for doing so is available again here.

Please note that students will not be permitted to walk home unless this permission has been received. If you have any problems completing the form, please contact the front reception for support. Please also remember that if someone who is not the regular adult collects your child, they must give the password for collection. Thank you for your support in this matter.

Middle School Homework

This year all of our 12 coaching groups / classrooms have their own Google Classroom set up. All home learning tasks will be set through these online portals. Parents are warmly invited to sign up as guardians on these classrooms; this will give you the opportunity to see all the tasks set for your child so you can keep up to date and support them at home. If you would like to be added to your child's classroom, please follow this link to add your details.

Recognition Board

It was a phenomenal week of recognition last week - the biggest week in Middle School history with 1004 names in total gracing our board! Well done to everyone represented below. You have stepped up to live our values of Openness, Community, Humanity, Excellence and Responsibility!
